do you print feeders in abs or pla?

Some people said PLA was not strong enough and that it was snapping, even at 100% fill.

Some people suggested that ABS is not good if you are printing PLA as filament rubbing on the feeder may result in small pieces of ABS going into Bowden tube and eventually into extruder which may block. Using a small piece of Bowden tube inside, for example, Robert's feeder can help with this.

Personally I use PLA (20% fill) but keep a spare feeder, just in case. Printed over 20h so far with no issues. If it starts breaking I will consider making it in ABS.

You better do it in pla.

I found this explanation pretty good:

 

Friction from the filament to the feeder frame (if any) could bring material fragment into the tube and to the nozzle. If thats the case, its better to be PLA so it doesn't start clogging the nozzle when printing at low temp.

Having just put IROBERTSI design through Cura and got the g code I am about to print my first feeder in white Color Fab XT. I have put 50% fill on all parts but the Latch which is 100%. Printing 4 latches in case it breaks as the comments seem to show this as a weak spot..

Now having second thoughts about using XT or printing most parts at 50% infill?

Printing the whole assembly in solid PLA seems a bit excessive?

Would like your thoughts on this. TIA

Another example:

I've printed the snap-on-guide in normal PLA and all other parts in XT. Wall- and top/bottom thickness 1.2mm and 20% infill (Robert suggested this somewhere in the comments on Youmagine).

More then 400 printing hours later there is nothing weak or broken.

IMHO: relax... ;)
