custom firmware values saved when "save profile"?

Posted · custom firmware values saved when "save profile"?

Hi,

I'm using cura with a Reprap. Do I have to "install the custom firmware" on every computer I use for Cura or the parameters extracted from my firmware are also saved when you "save a profile"?

For example, now I have in Cura an extrusion rate value from my customized firmware. If I "save the profile" from my computer and then "load the profile" from another computer, does the extrusion rate value is the same or do I have to "install the custom firmware" again?

Thanks a lot for your help

The firmware is the software that's on your 3D printer. Cura doesn't need to know any of the values that are stored in your printer's firmware, because the GCode it (Cura) generates is independent of your printer's firmware settings.

So... No, you don't need to install the firmware from every PC you use. These settings aren't part of your Cura profile, nor does Cura know or care what the firmware settings are.

However; It might be that your firmware accepts a different kind of g-code. The tiny-G that we used once needed some different g-code on some parts, which required a plugin (so every computer that you want to use for slicing would need this plugin).

If you are using a marlin based firmware, you're pretty much good to go anyway.
