pm-dude, I had the same idea and tried it. Unfortunately I did it with a model that took more than 10 m of material to make. So I had to set my alarmclock every 2 hours to unroll and lubricate another 2 meters of material... But in the end it worked out fine!

 

This "solution" works for me as well.

Thank you for help. I've been using my printer for several months with no issues until today. I was having this exact same problem as described and filmed. It turned out to be one of the wires in back was touching the thin little mechanical switch and it must have been just enough to cause it not to work. Moved the wires and everything is working perfectly again. I thought it was strange that I couldn't get the build plate to lower. I would click the lower build plate command and it would raise the build plate just like what was described above; however, I didn't think all hope was lost because after I manually lowered the build plate and turned the machine back on I could lower the build plate while going through the "leveling the build plate" procedure. Anycrap thanks again!

 

I had a simailar problem. The lever of the mechanical switch was bent too strong and always indicated that the building plate was at zero.

Your description was very helpful to figure this out.

I will check out the options you pointed out right away. Since you are planning to create the dual extrusion kit for UM2, I still consider it an option - even with the possible delay in availability.

I would like someone from the UM-team to underline your conclusion. I will need the dual extrusion for my projects and I cannot afford a false investment.

Like said above, we could release a broken product right now. But that's not how we do things. We adjusted the estimate as soon as we found out there was a huge issue with the dual-extrusion setup.

I know it sucks. I wished we had all material super printing with a brain interface. But reality is a bitch sometimes.

 

 

Assuming the recent problems will be solved by the end of the year:

Will the solution be sold as add-on kit for the current UM2 or will the UM2-design be changed?

If I order an UM2 now, will I be able to upgrade it with a secound nozzle later on?
