It might be wet? Generally wood filaments are VERY sensitive to moisture.

I would say you need to use a larger print core.. because wood filament usually has big chunks in it.. but 0.8 should be more than enough there..

Maybe double check your front cooling fan is working correctly and didnt get clogged up during these tests?

Is it possible to pause in the middle of a print to clean the inside of a printcore? after dozens of tries this looks like the only solution

relative humidity has been under 30% most of the time. should i bring a dehumidifier...?

the fan is working probably. sometimes i notice that the prints actually last longer if the fan speed is not too high... makes me wonder what happens in the printcore, there might be a sweet spot where the fan is JUST ENOUGH to produce a constant flow

something weird about the Preview mode is that for some reason it only shows the model in translucent grey, but not the paths of printing... it used to not be like this. paths of printing only appears if i click the "play" button at the bottom

found out what the issue is... the layer was not turned on lol

    thank you both for commenting!

I was thinking of coasting but coasting doesn't retract so I didn't mention it.  It should have the dark blue line (no retraction).  It also doesn't extrude.  So instead I mentioned about the colors to see if it's really retracting (I think it wasn't retracting).

  5. So far it seems like clogging happens in a very arbitrary way. Image attached is showing only a few of the prints that failed because of clogging.

    So far I've tried:

    - printing a temperature tower to find the best temperature

    - tweaking print speed, flow rate, fan speed, combing, temperature, retraction

    - trying to manually unclog the printcore during printing

With all these methods, i've been able to make prints last longer before they clog, but it seems like manually unclogging the printcore is the only reliable way that has made successful prints.

I'm using a 3 extended with a 0.8mm printcore. Anything I might be missing? Will newer versions of printer, say S5, inherently better for printing wood PLA?

Do you have combing enabled?  Combing enabled will do fewer retractions.  Combing disabled will do more.

When you go to PREVIEW mode set the mode so it shows moves in blue.  Dark blue is non-retracting moves.  Light blue is retraction moves.  Are you seeing light blue moves?

i think i find the answer, by enabling coasting that tiny bit of retraction is gone

  7. I have a 3 extended printer. So far I've tried to disable any retraction that is possible in Cura's settings, and it turns out that all the major retraction disappears. The only part I don't understand is retraction still happens at walls:

    1. Filament is retracted a few mm back when printing an inner wall

    2. After the inner wall is finished, filament is pushed forward a little before it prints the outer wall

    3. After the outer wall is finished, filament is pushed forward a little again before it starts to print the infills

Note that my model has several loops of walls on the same layer, not sure if that has anything to do with the retraction. See image attached.

I'd rather have the filament not retracted at all despite the side effects that might cause. Any idea how I can disable it?
