  1.

I had sort of the same issue, it was with the first github versions. And with a to big difference between the 2 nozzles in the Z axe.

Similar to mine after I held the 2nd head out off the way until it was needed to measure distances.

Have entered my calibration readings in a previous post which should be a good start :)

Maybe you can try to change to the second head and then set the extruder offset.

About S3D, I've tried with it but I had some problems with infill and top layers so I stopped the prints, nice result but it take some time to heat up, and the tool change retraction is not always clean.

I post here my wip fff profile for the mark2

  2. HELP!!!

I have built The Smart Dual-Extrusion Upgrade and have run into a problem trying to run the gcode calibration set up.

When the heads go to the central prime position it causes my heads to crash against the front of the UM which then makes the print fail, and pick up/replace the second head fail as well.

I took the second head off when it did its prime (just the main head used) and measured the distance from the head to the front of the UM cabinet as 2.7mm, whereas the size of the 2nd head when attached is 3.0mm (ish).

Is there anyway I can alter the gcode to stop this happening - and of course change any Cura settings to stop this happening for later prints??

    Any assistance much appreciated.

    Andy

    Check two things:

Make sure you got the latest version of the Cura definition files? There was an error with the initial start / prime positions in the first github version.

Second, in the firmware check Dual extrusion - > wiping position and set the y value to something like 40 mm.

I'm not sure that is the same problem but if it is, it also happened to me, I solved by setting the extruder offset to X {+18} Y {-22} before run the calibration gcode.

    It worked for me.

  3. Did you try

    With either

In Cura check: Travel->layer start x/y and set it to something like 100.0/50.0

    or

Then you could activate the Mart2Tweaks Plugin

    or both

you should be fine (up to my experience)

Yes, I have set the layer start and I activated the plug in

I don't know how but now I repeated the slice with the same settings and the travel movements are reduced, there is only one, I think it is start movement after a G28

  4. First of all, you've done impressive work.

    I've a question about gcode/firmware.

Are the tool change movement script, swap retraction managed by the firmware or by the gcode?

I read a dual print gcode generated in cura and i see T0/T1, M104/M109 command for the standby-heat up temperature, and a simple retraction (5.1mm@F1500) in relative E distance.

I ask you this because I don't have a lot of familiarity with cura and I would like to ask if it is possible to run a simplify3D's gcode, i know there is a possible collision with the 2nd head if the object is in the wrong position.

I also noticed that PVA is not present in the list of materials, but this is not a real problem.

    Thanks,

    /Marco
