  1. Hi there,

Most of my info is in the attached picture but as people here will know 3D printing and ultimakers well here is some extra info:

I have upgraded this UM3 with some of the newer parts that are available - the latest print head cable clip fitting and the new style of print head undersling which uses the newer S5 version of the silicon covers.  I bought these upgrades from the UK ultimaker distributor so they are all official.
The printer has also been serviced multiple times by the same distributor (I sent it in about once a year), hence why it has the newer colour of LED in the button.

Ideally I would like to sell to someone in person to avoid faff of delivery but I'm willing to discuss delivery as I realise finding someone nearby is unlikely.

I have been working with ultimakers for multiple years professionally now so feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

During the setup flow, Cura Connect explains to open Cura to finish the setup. This step must be done when Cura is running in the same local network (it needs to 'pair' the local and cloud instances of connect). This is not optimal and will be fixed in the next release, but for now this is how it is.

Oh i see, so currently this only really works for laptops?

That's fine, thanks for the quick response and glad to hear it will updated in the future 🙂

That's unfortunate. At the moment remote printing is only supported by Cura indeed, so either on a 2nd desktop or a laptop that you take somewhere else. I can't go into details here but we'll be adding a lot more features in the (near) future, this is just the basis for having a cloud connection at all.

    Hi There,

    Still a bit confused.

I launched up cura 4 on another computer outside of my network, and signed into my ultimaker account through it.
However, I can find no option to monitor my print of my ultimaker 3 at home.

The account options simply let me view my profile, and the monitor tab simply asks me to connect a printer to the computer.

I was under the impression I would be able to launch cura connect for my home printer using a second computer outside of the network?

    Thanks for any response.

You can start the cloud connection flow from Cura Connect's settings page (http://IP_ADDRESS/settings). That'll guide you through the steps, eventually asking you to open op Cura for the final 'handshake'.

Hi, Yes I did that and connected it all up but i that wasn't the problem.

I think I get it now, the new cloud stuff is only if you have a second computer? At a different location to your first?
I assumed it would be usable through the ultimaker app as that would be how most people would "access it from outside the network".

If its only for use with a second computer etc then never mind, its not useful to me. May I request that this feature be added to the ultimaker app?

    Thanks

  5. Hi there,

The new updates are nice, however I feel like I may have misunderstood something as I cant find these new cloud features, can I ask where they are?

If I launch cura connect its the same as before but with extra print info tracking.
I i press the "open ultimaker account" button, it takes me to a webpage where the only options are to log out, or enable two factor security.

Where are these new features? The ultimaker app on my phone still wont let me access my printer from outside the local network, despite the fact it is now showing my phone in cura connect.
"This lets you print from outside the realms of your local network with an Ultimaker 3 or Ultimaker S5 via your Ultimaker account. "
If you could direct me to this, that would be great, mostly all Im looking for is to be able to view and cancel prints via phone.

The sliding blocks absolutely need to be straight up and down in the printhead shafts. Loosen the printhead shaft from both ends of the sliding block at the same time, get the first one perpendicular, and then you can manage the second one.

Yeah, thats what i assumed at first.

It (the sliderbloack)  came from print maintenance people slightly squint, and i only noticed afew days in, i also then noticed the print head slant. It was printing fine at this point.

I looked up online how to straighten the slider blocks and did so, and immediately noticed it made the print head slant MUCH worse. At this point, it wouldnt print at all. I put it back to being slanted (which raises the print head shaft to be slightly more level) and it now prints a a lot better but still fails quite often, ive been tinkering with it for literally 10 hours now and cant get it to print properly on almost any print head (was printing fine on 0.25mm before).

Im not sure if its clear from the photos but you can see the slant is worse when the sliderblock is straight.

  7. Hi,

I recently bought a second hand UM3 through this site and everything seemed ok but i am starting to have some problems. I realise now the print head is not level and I cant find anything anywhere about this as a problem. (see photos)

This first came about when i noticed the sliding blocks were not level, so levelled them, this made the slant of the printhead much worse and the printing deteriorated further. I have tried slanting the sliding blocks in various ways but no amount of doing that seems to stop the print head from leaning to the left. I realigned the axles, checked the axel isnt bent, messed around with other bits but cant seem, to fix the issue and have found nothing online even noting it as an issue.

(AS can be seen in the photos, the material will not stick to the build plate when moving along the x-axis near the middle of the plate, i suspect the offset caused by the front build plate screws causes it to almost be level despite the print head, near the front of the plate).

All calibration print photos are with the left sliding block tilted, it fails right from the start if the slideblock is straight)

    Any help would be appreciated.
