I can confirm that the selected object does indeed become highlighted in the Object list as mentionned above! This is great and I don't know how I never noticed!

I am using Cura 4.6.2 and I couldn't find anything in the settings nor any visual cues as to this being possible. I second this feature request and would love to see this added to a future version of Cura!
