I would really like help from Ultimaker to get cura ( and older version ) working on my mac still no further forward despite asking on here before as of yet I've to find an answer odr someone who can really help .
It all Started when i had my mac reformatted as it had performance issues and i was advised this was a good thing to do ! it worked the performance issues disappeared and my Mac was like new ! thing was i never backed up cura as ii thought that id simply be able to download it again and carry on with the printer settings that i had saved from the previous version that i was using 4.6. This has proven to be Very hard as of yet I've not been able to get it working its won't even open on my mac the app just bounces up and down on the start up bar ! !
I've tried the latest version of cura but my prints aren't coming out any where near the quality they did when i was using the older version
if anyone could help it would be much appreciated i have a printer waiting to print stuff but currently can't
Many Thanks Mark

I’ll take a pic from the other end of the room and you’ll see it’s not as bad as it looks 😂😂😂
and yes it’s usually that easy with a Mac but for whatever reason I can’t get it to load. I’ll look again too see if there’s a way to force it to load 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You can re-install the older versions from HERE. I would recommend 4.13.1. Find the version you want and click on the "Assets" button to unhide the installation download links. All the Cura versions can co-exist so you don't have to un-install one to load another.
5.6.0 has some issues with slicing and supports but I really don't see any difference in my prints.
It's very difficult to troubleshoot from photos. As Slashee mentioned a project file is much preferred.
You didn't mention what printer you have.
Thanks for the reply👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ive tried to download and install the older version but that hasn’t been successful as I have a Mac it won’t let me 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼 I can upload some files if I can figure that out last time I failed miserably 😂😂😂
and I have a (please don’t judge) ender 3 pro with quite a few upgrades it has the BLV kit dual z kit CR touch direct drive upgraded hot end and it’s running cheetah 5.0 marlin firmware

guys i really could do with some help
After my last post and you guys being so helpful in resolving a problem with my prints Im here again.
I used to have Cura 4.6. and had it dialled in and was getting good consistent prints from my modded ender 3 pro.
i had some problems with my mac which led to it being reformatted and i lost Cura ( completely overlooked this and boy do i regret it)
anyway id dint think it would be a problem as i could just download the older version which i was running. Well that didn't work ! ! ! !
I ended up up with the latest version and now my prints are well not great... thing is once id got the old version sorted id rarely touch it as there was no need to and it was such a long time ago since i set it all up and dialled it in im not sure where to start as I've forgotten all that id learnt before. ( yes i should of made notes ) anyway im reply hopping that some of you guys can help ill attach some pictures for you all to see the difference between old and new.. 👍
thanks in advance
Mark.

Set Cura up the way you want and then use the "File | Save Project" command to generate a "special" 3mf file that has the model, your printer, and all the settings in it. Post that file here.
Not sure why but when I go to file and save project it doesn’t give me the option to generate a special file.
im using it on a Mac not sure if its different ? ? ? -

It's not a cura Project 😤... Just a 3MF geometry file format. As there are no settings, we cannot analyse this issue. With a normal configuration the result is correct.
Could be an issue with "Print Thin Walls"
Print Thin Walls : ON
Print Thin Walls : OFF
Note Groove width = 0.186 mm so Minimum Feature Size must be at a maximum of 0.18 mm
thanks for all the help guys this has resolved the issue I had now on to getting the print quality I had before.
so I might be back with more questionsthanks again 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥰

Apologies Ive not had to do this before so im unfamiliar with how to save as a project if you can advise me on how to I will thank you for all your help it’s much appreciated. I thought I had tried the print thin walls I’ll take another look and see probably just me and user error 😂😂 I’ve kept using an older version as it was working perfectly and avoided updating to the latest version for this very reason 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼 hopefully we will be able to sort it so I can get printing again thanks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

If the last version of UltiMaker Cura you used was 4.x - Things have changed a lot for you.
I would recommend reading about the (too many to list here) changes on the knowledge base.
See: https://support.ultimaker.com/s/topic/0TO5b000000Q4xhGAC/cura-5I’ll have a look it’s a bit annoying as I had great results with the older version and now I’m back to basics 🤦🏼😂👍🏻

Awww, I had this one come up a while ago and I can't remember how I fixed it.
Just made a quick test, try turning on Walls > Print Thin Walls to start.
I should have said this was one of the suggestions s made on another group and it didn’t help ? ?

I’ve been using cura for the past 4-5 years and it’s been very effective. Recently I had some issues with my Mac and had it reformatted ! ! Unfortunately I forgot about cura and all its settings and when I downloaded the newest version of cura I ran into some problems.
I had saved screen shots of my old settings in cura 4 .1 and put most of these into the latest edition but I’ve been having this issue and can’t seem to find out why. Hopefully you’ll be able to help 👍🏻👍🏻I’ve sliced and printed this part dozens of times and had no issues but when I slice it in cura now it’s not as the model in fusion see attached pictures
its missing the small gap at the bottom of the model and I don’t understand why.
it’s very frustrating I’ve reached out to a few forums and social media groups but nothing that has been suggested has worked so I’m really hoping that somebody here can help.
please se attached pictures
