-
-

https://www.youmagine.com/designs/um2-fan I just publish it on Youmagin so you might be able to look at the design there
-
by considering complex sensor systems please do not run into the Makerbot 5th gen problem where you have more false positives then real problems...
btw my Ultimaker hand never skipped an step in X or Y axis so why closed loop? maybe for the extruder but if you do not have the stock feeder it isn't a problem ether
-
or combine the twin tornado idea with what Kevin Lee is doing ... that would look like this:
It has the advantage that more air is cooling the print... and more directly... so overhangs might get better.
-
I looked a bit at my Ultimaker and fond a way to mount a third and forth Fan onto the printhead which would compete the Idea, because it is able to cool the plastik more directly coming out the nozzle... its not tested and in ulta alpha stage but wanted to show it for discussion.
Athow it looks like it would coiled my CAD suggests that unless you have an Front door it will work.

I use Autodesk Simulation CFD 2015 witch is not an fee tool (in fact its quite expensive)and an stl is Possible to use but quite complikated because I can't integrate it in my Inventor CAD File (to delete support an so on ...maybe just because I haven't found the right tool jet) so I would really like to get an not mesh file like an .step or wotever.
witch CAD do you use?

Sorry, but I have no profound idea of aerodynamics, it is much more trial and error...Maybe someone can later visualize the exact operation of this fans cages for Us?
If I get the CAD Files and some details about the Fan (Datasheet) I could make that...
BTW maybe replace the old fans for something more powerful ...
With the new Version the Fans have to be at the height of the upper metal plate... (if you want to have 2mm tolerance)

To make a suggestion: make the UM2 with Ulticode compatible with octopint.
the RepRap mode is kind of ok, but not really the thing you want to use. And an good working wifi UM2 would be phenomenal!
I'm quite bad when it comes to coding so I wont be able to help much but I do think that many UM2-users would benefit from that.

Was muss Software Seitig getan werden?
Kann man da Helfen?

You may wat to look at: http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/7873-ultimaker-2-umbau-auf-2te-d%C3%BCse/page-3 but it's in german

so putting something like an retractable watercooled E3D in the second place would be your suggestion(if it doesn't work I won't blame you...)
-something like

Is there a chance to see what the R&D Team has tried, to not make the same mistakes again?
