  1. The black box part of the hot end on my Ultimaker 2 has snapped off. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so will gluing it back in place fix it? I'm guessing I'll have to find if I can get a replacement part but will gluing it hold it in place for the time being while I finish my prints. Thanks for any help anyone can offer, it's greatly appreciated.
  2. THAT WORKED! (Though the feeder is still making a click every 13 seconds) Thanks so much! I changed the hot end while I was at it. Is there anyway of cleaning the old hot head and keeping as a spare or should I just get another hot end set?
  3. Hey Everyone, So I've had my Ultimaker 2 for just over a year now, I haven't had that many issues with it but lately a few things have been happening to it and I was wondering if anyone else has has these issues and knows any fixes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quick bit of back ground on the printer, I only ever use 2,85 mm PLA bought from 3dgbire.com, I switch between Black and Silver but mostly use black. I haven't upgraded to the Extruder, though if it's something that people suggest (and if it's easy to do) then it's something I might have to do, but ideally I'd like to avoid that for the moment. - I've noticed that the filament won't come out clean if I haven't set the nozzle temperature to 230°C. I used to be able to just print and not have to change the temperature of the nozzle at all - The Feeder will make a quiet *click* sound roughly every 13 seconds during a print. - The Extruder sometimes won't extrude any filament, instead the feeder will just keep clicking. - Sometimes when the Extruder is extruding the filament, it's clearing less then is meant to be extruded. (The filament comes out way to thin). Sometimes to fix the Extruder not extruding filament, I remove the filament from the printer, remove the bowden tube and clip from the top of the extruder, heat the nozzle to 230°C, run a spare piece of filament through the top of the extruder until it's coming through the nozzle, change the temperature to 80°C and put the filament out, sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. Sorry about the essay, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. It wasn't coming outof the nozzle. I didn't know about cutting to a point, I just did that and its now coming out. I also wasn't inserting it correctly through the feeder which was causing it to grind the filament down. It was a stupid problem that I was panicking over.
  5. My Ultimaker 2 has been working find and I'm currently trying to print something in a new colour. I used filament I bought from faberdashery.com and I'm not changing to the Ultimaker brand filament which comes on a spool. I just changed the filament and as the machine started to print, nothing was being extruded. I then went back through the steps again to make sure that the filament was being extruded which it was. Still no luck with the print. I tired one last time and as the Ultimaker feeder reversed to remove the filament nothing was being pulled through. I managed to get the filament out and noticed that it had been ground down. I tried to re insert the filament and the feeder is now grinding filament and won't pull the material through. Has anyone had this issue or does anyone know what could be causing it? Any help would be great. Thank you.
  6. Hello everyone, I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this problem before or if anyone knows of a way to fix it but, one of the models I'm trying to print seems to have gaps in between layers when shown in layer view. I tried printing it last night and it was a mess. I've posted 2 images of the gaps in layer view. The model seems water tied and i ran it through netfabb to check the model wasn't busted in anyway and that didn't show me anything problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers
  7. Let me start off by saying I'm relatively new to the world of 3D printing so I do apologise if this question has been asked before. I just got a Ultimaker 2 and this machine is amazing, I've only done a few little easy prints, but I want to move on to bigger things. I found a file for an ant man mask and I really want to print it, but before I do I wanted to know about support towers. I've attached a image of the file and as you can see there is alot of over hangs. On Cura I have selected the enable support box I just was wondering is that it? Do I just select that box and then let the printer do the rest? It hasn't added any additional supports to the file so which is why I'm worried about printing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
