Argh, I redownloaded the whole package and tried again, today, everything opens fine. Never had such a thing before, very strange. But thanks a lot for the help!

For example this repository here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Ultimaker2ExtendedPlus It contains all the STEP-Files, but none of them is readable. I tried Autocad, Inventor 2016, Fusion 360. Fusion tells me: "Error: [1165-B.STEP]: Content of the file is corrupted or invalid"

The Github-Repo has drawings in dxf and step-format, none of these files is readable by autocad or Fusion360, they are all dismissed as invalid file formats. I also tried some other cad packages on the DXF-files, no luck, they seem to have an invalid format. Is there a source for valid drawings for the parts of the UM2 extended?

No, Version just shows the version number, not which machine-specific build it is.

I have a UM2 here and converted it to a 2+ with the extrusion upgrade kit. After installation I should load cura, select the Ultimaker 2+ printer and start a firmware update. Since my machine does not react properly after updates, I cannot see if it was successful. Before the update there was firmware for the UM2, after it should be the firmware of the UM2+ I read about the ventilator not runnig when idle in the 2+, my converted machine runs the ventilator always, like the UM2 without "plus". So I guess the update went wrong again. How can I check if it worked? Is there a way to ask it via serial port/USB? Maybe a command I can send?

BTW, in the online manual under https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/20500-upgrade-firmware there is a link "Having issues when updating the firmware? Please read it here." It leads to a 404 page.

Hello again, I tried it 20 times with Cura 2.6, several cables testet, other pc too. No Luck. I then tried Xloader, it did something for a few seconds, but then hanged up. The printer restarted and now shows version "_2.6ex" I don't know if that was successful, but pretty awkward for a 3000 euro piece of hardware to have such a highly complicated and seemingly failing way of software update. How can I be sure if its ok now? Why does it fail with cura? Where are he logs of Cura?

I tried to update the firmware of my ultimaker 2. Following the manual I got stuck, as the menu mentioned there is not in cura. I found it inside the printer settings, there I clicked on automatic update. After 20 times I gave up. Sometimes it seems to do something, led go out, and then it returns an error, that the update failed. I could not find any download site where I can get the latest firmware, also no information on which version is current and what the changes are. Is that hidden somewhere? I would try to download it myself and give cura the file to upload to my UM2. Is there an other way to update an UM2 without cura? Maybe via Ardiuino? But where to get the latest version?

I have a UM 2 and am quite confused about cura: It has some default settings for print speed etc. As far as I could find out, this is all for PLA. Deep inside the printer settings there are some materials defined, but I could not find any way to select one of those for my object. Is it correct that one cannot select any material, but instead should enter the correct values for speed etc.by myself? If yes, what are the material definitions in cura for? That makes no sense to me, there are materials, but I cannot select any for my objects. Maybe someone can clear that up for me :-)
