  1. I did some screenshots of all of my Cura settings down the page a ways in a yellow box here: http://devestechnet.com/NewTech/HeatBed These are my standard settings for almost everything. My prints come out really nice except for this. I tried ironing, but that doesn't fix the problem with the gcode. A top layer should go all the way to the edge. The layer needs to be structured so that happens during slicing. As it is now, all of the rounds around the holes (appears to be six of them) are uniform all the way through the piece. The bottom and top layers should be different, thus reinforcing the piece and eliminating this problem. No? I have tried different speeds and different temperatures and all still have the 6 extruded lines around each hole. Also, if my suggestion of making the layers different from the infill doesn't fly, is it possible to extrude over 100%? Can I simply type in 102 or 110 to see if that fixes it? I have always been afraid to try.
  2. Just so you know, if you add a bunch of support blocks and then save the file as a binary stl, when you close it and reload the stl file BAD things happen. The blocks turn into solids.
  3. I did as you suggested and it still does it. I am not understanding something. Why would the top layer have about 6 circles all the way around a hole? Same for rectangular holes. Shouldn't the top layer go right up to the holes edge? Its like the priority is on the wrong axis or infill and not the top layer, or some setting is just not tightening things up because I don't know where to look. Thanks to everyone trying! This has been a problem forever now and there is no better place to ask this.
  4. I can't tell anything from layer view. I am sure its my inexperience. I can't see any borders in layer view. Here is the .STL file. To answer your questions: 1) 12 (I keep upping it in hopes of something changing, so I know that is probably crazy high) 2) 1 extra skin wall 3) Speeds: Outer Walls: 27.5 and Inner Walls: 55 (not sure about skin speed) 4) Temp: 200 first layer, 190 after that. The project file means .STL file right? If not, I will get you whatever you need. Thank You! WhatAmIDoingWrong.stl
  5. I have three of these printers and I realize they are not top end printers, but the odd thing is the filament on the top layer doesnt go to the edge of the hole, rather there are circular (or rectangular) passes around the holes. I can see those passes on the infill, but shouldn't the top layer always go right up to the edge? So, I am hoping I have a setting in Cura that I can make to give the top layer control over that.
  6. Sorry. The latest Cura I think its 3.3.1, and PLA using Anet A8 printers (1.75mm filament). I am also printing at 35% infill with 4 top layers.
  7. I have been having this problem forever and I wonder if there is anyone here who might have suggestions. There is a lot of looseness around screw holes and any hole in the top skin. Here is the picture so you can see right away. Is there a setting in Cura that would fix this? Thank you! Look especially around the square one. Its worse.
  8. That works nicely. Thanks. I do not know if anyone knows this, but if you put a support box out where you can see it all, then change the Z to 15 and the Y to 15 and the X to 100, you will notice that the box loses its rectangular shape. I would think you meant it to be squared. This is a feature that I will use on almost every print. Thank you!
  9. I have never tried modifying a model in Cura. How do you change the size of the Support Blocker blocs? Also, just something to think about, if MOST of the model doesn't need support, and just one small area does, it would be nice to be able to hold down shift (or something) and the inverse happens. If I turn off support completely but select that area, it will support it using the support settings previously entered. Just a thought. Thanks for everything!
  10. Very nice Brulti! That is so timely! I hope this becomes a really popular feature that is expanded. For example, if you have a 200 mm long 20mm x 20mm long rectangle with a 3mm hole in the center, we want to keep that entire length of the hole unsuported, But since that same part has an overhang, we need to enable support. I think I have your new solution figured out. Basically, just add box over box over box until we get the coverage we need. I hope thats right. I do not know how smart this feature could become because I dont know if the hole can be identified by the software, but it would be nice to have it see the hole and allow you to choose the hole and select the entire hole. I know, its in the future, and I am not being critical. I am hopeful this works for this 2 day long print as it is. You guys ARE awesome. I couldnt be more appreciative of your efforts. THANK YOU!
  11. I am making a robotic arm and I wanted a 1x2mm rectangular path INSIDE of one of the long pieces for wires to go through. I need support turned on because of a saddle that is required. Is there a way in Cura to turn off support for just certain areas of the work, OR are there settings I can set so that the 1x2mm rectangle will be ignored? Thanks for a great product. 12. I am very appreciative of the Cura effort. I use it all the time. I am having some problems that I feel must be related to slicing that I am hoping I can get some information on. Please check out the following 8 pictures... http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue01.jpg http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue02.jpg http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue03.jpg http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue04.jpg http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue05.jpg http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue06.jpg http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue07.jpg http://devestechnet.com/Images/TopLayerIssue08.jpg There seems to be an issue with top layers that do not fill properly. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this but to no avail. I use 40% infill typically, but for some reason can't get the top layers to complete everywhere. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? Thanks again!
