  1. Hi, So when using netfab, the only configuration that works for me is stnd print with ultra pla configured. Evyerthing else I've tried makes a mess. Has anyone been able to produce a mid or low quality print with netfabb that doesn't look horrible? Also, any chance the people with good profiles/material configurations can export their configurations to a wiki or some other repository? Thanks, Reza
  2. Is it just me or does it seem like this would be a simple thing for Netfabb to implement/fix. What's the status of their support for the Ultimaker - is there active work or do they have an intern working on it when he/she has free time? Reza
  3. @PeggyB You are my new hero with your prints. Did you figure out how to configure the settings via trial and error or are they documented anywhere (in a useful way?) Also, how did you disable all layer except outer? And did you use the ultra PLA setting for the silver print? Has anyone had luck with Low quality prints looking good (as good as can be expected) I've just reconfigured everything to match your configs and will try again. Thanks
  4. @itallianmaxx you can put photos inline by clicking on upload attachment below where you enter the post, upload the photo, and click on attach inline. -reza
  5. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm beginning to suspect that my repair of the extruder nossle failed and it is still leaking some small amount of material which might be causing my problem. I suspect that if I attempt to repair it again, I'll break the brass tube. I've already emailed ultimaker about ordering spare parts but have not heard back. So what was the original temperature in the netfab config? I've changed it a couple times and I don't know what the original value is. And I tried the standard PLA profile again, and it just dumps out way too much plastic and it makes a huge mess and fails. Why is this considered a workable profile by others? And finally, why isn't there a temperature for each type of plastic listed someplace. It would be nice for the mfg to list it or the ultimaker people to compile said list. That being said, I'll try tightening the end nossle thing to see if that fixes my problem. I've already appllied teflon tape to no avail. *sigh* @Antiklesys I'll probably print the fan shroud as the current one looks pretty ghetoo. Otherwise, my belts are tight already and I have no issues with the feeding system. Just the leaky extrusion nossle.
  6. Ugh.. I followed all the instructions and I'm still failing. I tried the yoda at 1/4th size so it wouldn't take forever. At first, it looked good - especially the back, but by the time I got to the head it went bad. I found my initial problem was due to the head being too close to the surface (I thought that's what you wanted) but I raised it a bit and it helped. But not for long.. For the outside, I would get these blobs that form - if anything, I would imagine overextrusion(?) I also got some stringing but not nearly as much as with the standard profile. It seems that these blobs are biggest problem. Odd thing is that some parts (like eyes) printed out great.. It's a bit odd So what should be in the header G92 E14 or E30? CE Declaration of Conformity Ultimaker 2.pdf
  7. @goodwill I didn't have that, but someone told me to put M92 E14 in there. You're the first person who mentioned E30. Why isn't this documented someplace? It's so frustrating. This is what I now have -- and i realize I have 2 E92 commands, but the second should override the first - and I'm leaving it as a reminder. M106 M109 M92 E14 M92 E30 G92 E0 @daid I found a bug in cura and submitted a ticket. The configuration wizard requires a preferences.ini file to exist with a default steps_per_e else it doesn't work. The RC1 install doesn't include one (probably so as not to overwrite the old config) which means it defaults to 0 and a couple calculations fail and the extruder doesn't extrude. I'll play around some more today and post the results..
  8. Yes, that is in the header. Not sure why netfabb didn't add that by default if it's important. Reza
  9. @peggyb amazing! so you're printing that out with netfabb with all the default settings? I'm quite envious. Can you describe your entire setup (firmware, etc)? If you are using netfabb, is there any way to export all your settings and upload? I've since tried printing out some parts with Cura/RunPrint and it's working significantly better than netfabb. Shockingly so. However, I still have lot strings, and the edges look funky.. and the bottom of the head. It seems as if a lot of the strings can be fixed if pullback was working. Is there any way to enable it - or has anyone gotten it to work? Otherwise, any suggestions on what I can do to fix?
  10. I keep getting erratic behavior when printing from netfabb. However, I tried out Cura/PrintRun and it worked significantly better.. It's not perfect, but I it's night-and-day better. Why is the free software working better than the commercial software? I'm tempted to ask for a refund unless they want to fix their application. Reza
  11. Hi, So I've made some progress with netfabb 4.9, but I'm still not getting the quality prints that I've seen made by others. This is my calibration circle and the side view The inside is full of strings and knots, and the side has a few pimples on it. I've not done any calibration on netfabb - I emailed the ultimaker people and they said not to bother calibrating anything. I'm not sure what the next step(s) should be - does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Reza
  12. I followed the instructions from the post viewtopic.php?f=9&t=638 but instead of printing out a millennium falcon keychain this is what printed.. (see attached file). What am I doing wrong? I set it for a high quality print.. -reza
  13. I've been looking but can't find any updated documentation on either the ultimaker site or netfabb on exactly what is required to make a good print? With someone who is getting good results please let me know 1. what firmware you are using 2. what calibration steps are required within netfabb 3. what steps are taken within netfabb to print (i've been doing create toolpath -> print which seems to work but is there any other tweaking that is recommended?) Thanks! Reza
  14. I tried it again last night, and it behaved much better. It went to the front left corner to home, then to the back left to preheat, did a bit of extrusion to prime the tip, then it began in the area it was supposed to, so that works. I'm still lost on how to calibrate though :/ Thnx, Reza
  15. Thanks for all the great suggestions, I'll go try them out tonight. Reza
  16. I followed the build instructions exactly, and even have the <1mm gap between the aluminum plate and the wood piece which should mean that everything has been correctly tightened on the print head, but I'm oozing a ton of plastic from all over, including both the top and bottom of the print head, causing some grief i the build process and dropplets of plastic fall down. I've taken some pictures and posted them here: https://plus.google.com/photos/11291268 ... 5298877777 Here's an example of the ooze from the bottom.. It also oozes from above the heating block.. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, reza
  17. Thanks for the reply. I'm still having issues with the print - this time, it went to the home position, started extruding, but the head did not move resulting in a giant blob. I'm trying to do the calibration as per ( http://wiki.ultimaker.com/NetFabb_Setup ... d_versions ) but I'm confused about some of steps.. 1. Select material style I want to calibrate 2. Load calibration STL onto the print bead 3. Change build style to calibration Is this the "print quality" setting? I'm not sure where to set this 4. Go to build styles and select the only defined region under the region tab I don't see a build styles, just a build settings. I have no idea where the region tab is or what they want me to do 5. Select the 'outer' tab no idea again where this is 6. Change layer type, width and speed to match that which you are trying to calibrate what am i trying to calibrate? 7. Press OK Thanks, Reza
  18. So it seems as if netfab should be able to nativly print, but I can't find any ultimaker specific documentation on how to make it actually print. When i click on the print button after my toolpath has been generated, it doesn't do anything. The temperature (preheat) is already correct. When I tried to save the gcode and open in replicatorg, it seemed to work, but the build button just made it hang. Additionally, I couldn't find any information on what the best firmware to be running in order to best work with netfabb would be. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (I've gone through the howto wiki and it is much lacking) Thanks, Reza
  19. I have access to a laser cutter and was wondering if it was possible to purchase the kit without the wooden parts, and to cut them myself here? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for plastic supplies in the US? Reza
