  1. If you use Cura you can enter your material costs and it tells you how much the actual part will cost. For me that is always between 10cents and 1€. So really really cheap.

So if you want to charge somebody it is really just for your machine cost and of course the hours of work you put in. At the moment it takes me about 5 failed starts of a print. So after the first 3 layers it usually works fine. That adds up to a lot of time fixing the machine and so on. I would say 20 times the material costs? For friends maybe 10 times.

  2. I dont know why it leaks but a bit more plumbing tape could help and also tightening everything.

To get it to stick better you have to try and get the print bed just a tiny tiny bit closer. You can alos try printing the first layer at 10-20% speed. That will give the material enough time to stick.

  3. The thing is that one the high quality cura settings it prints with completeley filled layers. There are no voids in the shape it seems as if everything is filled well by the material. But I still cant get it ver strong. I also have another small part that breaks all the time. Even though it would be more than strong enough if it was injection molded. Is ABS stronger?

  4. Dont worry the assembly is very easy. You just have to put together some screws and nuts really. But getting the printer to work consistently well took some time for me. I had mine for 2 months now and there where times where I was very frustrated but now it prints very well. There was one part that had wrong dimensions but the ultimaker team replaced it straight away and since then everything is fine!

  5. From your video it looks to me as if your nozzle is to close to the bed. Try to lower the bed by a few 10th of a millimeter. If the nozle scraps over already layed up material, some will get picked up and you get small bumps.

If your first layer does not stick, try printing the first layer at 10% speed. That works for me.

Another thing I found out is that it is usefull to feed through some material by hand before EVERY print. Because at the end of the print and while heating up, some material flows out creating a lack in supply at the beginning of the next print.

I am printing for 2 months now so I am not an expert.

  6. I am trying to print a camera stabilisation device for the gopro cameras. It is my own design so I can change it but there is not much I can do about the connector itself.

The layers on those 3 pins always separate when there is a force. Is there anyway I can make the bond stronger? It won´t brake in the direction of the fiber but only between layers.

I am printing on Cura with the default High quality settings and the results look good.

Another thing I would like to ask is, how can I reduce the amount of ooze?

  7. Today I had some extrusion problems, removed the hot end a few times and now it printed about 1cm z-height and the printhead started to go all over the place. It kept extruding well though and extruded something cotton like. The printhead was in areas where it did not belong. What could have caused this?

I used Cura 12.07 and used the same file with the ulticontroler that worked a day ago.

  8. I had some good prints from the beginning but now I had the smart idea to imrpove them even more by readjusting the tension in the belts and the motors. (I was told to tighten the screws on the motor after a few prints.) Now, round objects are not really round anymore. What can I do?

I printed high quality on 200%. (picked the wrong g-code file but did this before with good quality)
