  1. Hi Daid, I stumbled across this old thread. I was wondering if there are any updates on an offiicial upgrade kit? I am building one. The Extruder parts are fine, but a set with the bowden, hotend required parts, thermocouple + pcb would be great! Ollie.
  2. Thanks for all the replies. Things look much better now. And nice writeup Illuminarti!
  3. Yes, it is extruding all the way across. I'll give retract on jumps a shot to see if that will make it better. Thank you for the tips ! Ollie.
  4. Hi Guys, Now that I have my Ultimaker for a week, I have tried a selection of slicers, like Slic3r, Netfabb and Cura. I got to say, even after playing with the parameters quite a bit I still get the best results in Cura. Thanks for a great piece of software! One small thing I noticed are lines which are especially pronounced on the surface of objects. They are related to the blue line seen here on the model: It seems like the slicer moves across the whole surface to start the layer fill on the opposite side ((starting front left in this pic to back right) and then the layer is printed perpendicular to the blue line which leaves a nasty line across the surface. I was wondering why it does that ? It could just start the layer from the front left instead of moving over to the other side first to avoid this line across? Here the printed result for reference: best regards, Ollie.
  5. Thank you for the super-fast reply! I guess writing a forum post is therepeutic. After asking the question, it led me to further check the controller board. And this is what I found: http://imgur.com/okc2BSi During transport the cooler-unit had fallen off and mangled the potentiometer of the controller board. After swapping the driver pcb with one of the other ones it extrudes just fine. Thank-you (not) DHL... I will contact support for a replacement. Happy printing everybody! Ollie.
  6. Hi Guys, I just received my new assembled Ultimaker yesterday. I see some issues with the feeder: It makes nasty noises and the stepper skips when printing: http://youtu.be/hqWTmWU1I24 Latest firmware, Orange Filament which came with my printer (measured 2.89m), printing the factory robot model that came on the SD card. The print come out extremely brittle because not enough PLA gets extruded. I have scanned the forum and tried the following things: 1) Heated the Extruder (230), turned off the steppers and handfed the PLA by moving the feeder wheel by hand. The filament extruded just fine with not a lot of friction. 2) I removed the wooden feeder wheel and used the Cura 'Extrude' button to move the stepper without load. Even this leads to clicking noise, and when I even give the slightest resistance to the cog-wheel it skips. Is this a stepper/controller issue ? best regards, Oliver.
