Strange i have bought over 20 spools from MakerGeek with no problems over the past 2 years. Mostly PETG and some PLA. All print great. I know they have had some growing pains. They extrude all their own stuff and sometimes get behind. I would still suggest you should try them. Normally good pricing

I changed all my printers over to Bondtech extruders and have no problem with flexible materials. The current standard U2 and U2+ extruders have challenges with flexible materials. This is not the cheapest solution but it works.

is the red silicone material I see just thin silicone sheet you punched a hole in for the nozzle and then attached it to the bottom?

Check out this new way of slicing an object. Can greatly reduce the time to print certain shapes. Maybe an idea for Cura.

Tinkergnome, I want I am just a humble user and have updated my U2+ with your most recent firmware. It is amazing. I have so much more information and control over the printing process. I am sure this takes a lot of your time, I truly appreciate all your work. Thank you!

What is that cover and who makes it?

For long prints I also suggest hooking your printer up to unterruptable power supply (ups) like they use on computers. All it takes is on blink at hour 19 to ruin a print.

Has any tried using TPU filament with the new extruder on the U2+? I know the original extruder on U2 did not work and people had to use other kinds. I had hoped the geared extruder would work better.

With the Tinker firmware can you raise the max temp you can extrude?. I trying for 300C for some high temp filament

i reloaded the tinkergnome firmware and the proper steps/mm and now I am printing normal. Thank you for the help

I downloaded the firmware hex file from BondTech for the Ultimaker2 and installed it. I did not change or adjust any of the steps. My understanding was the steps had already been adjusted.
Nope.
I thought this is explained in the bondtech manual...?
The setting is stored in the printers EEPROM. You can do a factory reset, or "print" the short gcode script from the bondtech website.

As you can see from picture the strands are not next to each other. I don't know what setting to adjust.
This is foot of the Ultimaker robot. Slicer is Cura, PLA at 210. layer .2, nozzle .4 speed 50. I am using an Olson setup and a Bondtech QR extruder. I did download and install the current firmware from Bondtech. this is a very consistent problem so I am hoping it is a setting

I have found the copper grease does not hold up long term. I have used Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound. You can get on Amazon. After a year of continuous use the probe and heater came out easily.

Any success with geared units with flexible filament?

This idea looks really cool. How will this be better than the BondTech feeder

I have been trying to print the sundial using blue MakerGeek PETG. I don't get stringing but the fine hair. Also as you see in the pictures there are sections that are 1mm wide and 6-7 mm wide. I am having trouble making the bridging work. It fails in the center. Temp 225, B/P 70, speed 30, layer .2 mm, retraction 4.50/30. What changes can I try to improve the bridging with PETG?

Would you share the parameters you ended up with for the ESUN material. I have been having the same problems.

I received coils of filament not on a spool. I first tried putting the coils on the floor but they got tangled. I started feeding from the outside of the coil, should I have started with the inside of the coil? I then hand coiled the filament onto a spool. It took 2 of us an hour (lots of tangles). I am sure there is an easy way but I am not finding it. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

I bought some PLA a year ago and it has been printing well. The spool does not have the name of the company that made/sold it. Can anyone tell whose spool this is?
I could not figure out how to put pictures in so here is dropbox link sorry for extra work

With Ultimaker out of the dual head extruders and and no hint of one in sight has anyone looked at the Bigbox printer on Kickstarter by the E3D people? It looks very solid and well made.

I would like to get a dual head printer and would have prefered to stay with Ultimaker.
How to pause at z height to change filament?
in UltiMaker Cura

I have a Ultimaker 2+ with Tinker firmware and Cura 2.5. "Pause at Z" works once but the second time it does not stop. Is there a minimum space between the "Pause at Z" usages. or have they still not fixed the software so you can use "Pause at Z" twice in the same model? I also noticed there are two other kinds of Pause at Z one for BQ printers and one for Repetier should I be using these?
