Hi All, I have an Ultimaker original. I turned it on after a couple of months rest, attempted a print and it wasn't working well at all. A bit of investigation and I noticed the extruder would not always spin (sporadic) until it didn't spin at all. swapped out stepper drivers, cables, etc. and all pointed to a problem on the main board. I ended up taking the main board out and and resoldering all connections in case there was a dry solder. I also replaced the 100UF 50v cap under the extruder stepper driver. I have been using Meshmixer for extrusion (which is a major pain having to keep switching between software for what is such a simple task). In order to do a 360 degree scan you need at least 6 to 8 scans around the object plus a couple around the top (sometimes a couple around the bottom depending on if there is an overhang you need to get into the scan). With the basic Fuel 3D package you can't do it as it only allows for up to 6 scan stitching. You have to pay US$200 per month in order to do a 360 degree scan over and above the cost of the hardware, up 300% from last week.

Today they released a new version of the software for the fuel 3d scanner. The previous version could not do proper off line scanning and you had to use the cloud (a maximum of 5 times unless you contact them, wait 3 days (as I did) to have them extend that number). They now have incorporated the new engine into the offline version but have also substantially increased the price. To add the ability to extrude, smooth the model and fix holes (something you'd thing would be standard) costs around US$200 per month (up from I think US$65 per month). Hi all, My Ultimaker Original is working fine, but I just relubed the x and Y axis and noticed that it was grinding. I have modified my machine so that it has external motors and doesn't need the small belt. I eventually worked out that the motor was grinding, even with no power. Weirdly though, when I unplug the motor from the motherboard there is no grind at all. It's very quiet. Plug it back in, grind is back (all done whilst power off). Very weird, any one come across this before? Thanks, Andrew - Australia

Where are you located?

I have an original Ultimaker and have a DIY heat bed. Looking online there are cheap(relatively) UM2 print beds/heated beds available, and they look identical to the heat bed upgrade (which is double the price once you consider freight ie here). Theoretically, can I use it on my UMO? Whilst my current setup works great, I would prefer a sturdier all metal bed, and the idea of a 3 point bed levelling system also appeals.

Hi all, I've been having problems getting any version of Cura to slice when there are multiple models on the plate. Currently I'm using 15.02.1 on Windows 7 64 bit 16 gig ram, 2 x GeForce GTX 560 ti's (in SLI) and have this plate. Cura just will not even start slicing it. When I go to look at the layered view it will show me the single object sliced prior to it being multiplied. As you can see, they all fit on the plate, there is no brim or raft. The log doesn't show any attempt at slicing the multiplied object, but is; C:\Program Files (x86)\Cura_15.02.1\CuraEngine.exe -v -p -s initialSp

Happens to me as well with 14.07. No problems with 14.03 and before. Cura fails to repsond after making any changes at all to the model (scale, rotate, move, etc). It does eventually start to respond, but the time it takes is dependant on the complexity of the model. It seems that for some the calculatin process isn't a background task but has priority over all other functionality. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, Core 15-3570, 16 gig RAM with 2 x GTX 560ti.
