  1. Yep, i thought loose belts too - still need to check those. If they are all tight, i'll look at model geometry and software settings. I use CinemaC4D to model and i'll try reducing the poly count around the curves. i'll also test various reduced speeds cheers
  2. hi all, just recently bought my UM2 and whilst i'm impressed with default 01/.06 profiles, the 0.2 profiles doesn't give me the finish i'd expect - very irregular layering, especially around cylinder and curves? Any settings in expert to help get those layers more even and regular? I'm sure its an easy fix? any pointers much appreciated cheers
  3. That would be fab, just spent an hour last night spooling a 100mtre of bling bling gold PITA! They did say spooled filament would be available soon when i spoke to them last month...
  4. i'd be interested in that nozzle change vid!
  5. Have to admit i was slightly surprised i seemed to be having moisture issues with my PLA. My other printers filament is stored in a filling cabinet with a couple of bags of desiccant for good measure - never had any issues - but that is a work in an open plan office. But as mentioned, my home printer is located in my bedroom and in the mornings the insides of the windows are usually slightly foggy with condensation. The filament in question had been hanging from the machine for a couple of weeks, i was getting blobby surface anomolies and the popping extrusion was very strange, so i surmised a moisture issue. I did pop the filament in a ziplock with a couple of bags for a day - and just completed a 6 hour print and all seems fine now - i'll carry on with airtight bags and desiccant and see if that does the trick? But may try the slow oven - what temp and how long would you suggest? Cheers Franc
  6. Sorry forum, i know this topic has been covered a ton of times but i just need a clarification if i may... Forum and Google search wasn't conclusive. I think i have some moisture issues with a roll of pla - blobbing surface features and it 'pops' at the nozzle when extruding - never had that before! My bad, it has been open stored in my bedroom, so i was asking for trouble. But now its absorbed moisture - what are the best options? I'm hoping it will be possible to put it in a ziplock bag with a pouch of desiccant and let it dry out that way? I don't fancy the long low heat dry out in the oven option - but if that is the best way? Desiccant or oven_ votes please. Cheers Franc
  7. Yep, i'll keep you posted regarding chewed filament. And the 3rd fan isnt a major issue, just strange that it has to stay on all the time? i've been used to the MB rep 2's fan shutting down when its cooled and finished printing. I'm moving the printer to its permanent location, so once its back up and running i'll be printing like a man possessed - lots of projects in the pipe line.
  8. Many thanks for the quick response! all understood. Yep, i'll will move away from the default Cura profiles when i've had a chance to play with the settings. And i think the chewed filament will be resolved once i get to 'know' the printer. But that 3rd fan - is there no way to get it to power up and down only during the actual printing sequence - seems strange not to have it set up like that? - i suppose worst case scenario is just to turn the printer off when its finished printing, or i may just get used to the noise? I'll also check out the trouble shooting guide Cheers
