I am using the latest non beta version of Cura, 12.4.4 I believe...
Will try some more stuff when I get back home.
I am hesitant to let the print run over night....or is this OK and not dangerous?
-
its always important to get a good first layer down I often choose 30-35mm/s depends on many other factors though
thanks.
apart from slower printing is there anything that should prevent me from printing whole model at 30mm/s?
Also, you do that through tune setting right?
-
I was thinking about the speed also....any suggestions?
The issue is that it starts with the bottom part no issues, then it take a turn on the long side and that one is not straight, thats where it starts going wrong and from there the top spahes go wrong also.
I did level the bed to what i thought was good.
Will try again tonight.
Please suggest speed for initial print.

OK...I am new....but have successfully printed a few smaller things. This is definitely the largest print I have tried so far.
A friend asked me to print this phone holder for his child's robotics class....
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1141100/#comments
In Cura I enrage it by 25.4 to get the right sizes.
200C, 0.4 nozzle...everything else standard
And then I get these type of results...no matter if I have applied glue to the bed or not...actually I got further without the glue...
Any idea what is going wrong? Looks like the top part is causing problems!
Please help.
Thanks!

OK. Thanks.
I only have the STL file that I downloaded....
I guess I will have to try and see how it prints.

I am about to try and help a friend by printing a part of a robot he is after.
Have received the print design, and when I import into Cura I get sizes of 159/108.3/14.6mm...but he needs the size to be 134.6/66/10.2.
How do I resize? do i just type these dimension in there and it will resize itself?
Also, in the current design there are some screw holes....if I resize, will these holes also get resized so they wont fit the right screw type anymore?
Thanks!

sorry if I side tracked the conversation...
what ventilation systems do you all use?

Regarding safety and particles, you should look into colorfabb materials, they actually do extensive research and testing. As for smell, there is a typical one, but not bad or unsafe, as long as you stick to PLA.
Are you saying colorfabb PLA filament is the safest?

Hi @Gareee,
In this story you'll see Faraday motion who had great success printing flexible materials. The set up remains the same, so flexible materials remain to be a challenge but it is possible. If you have no experience with 3D printing or Ultimaker yet I would recommend to start with PLA and once you are more familiar with the Ultimaker and the concept of 3D Printing move towards flexible materials.
Ninja flex or our own PLA flex is possible on an Ultimaker, but is not as straight forward as regular PLA.
The Ultimaker 2+ is already available right now, you may want to check with a few resellers to see who has it on stock. Where are you based?
Id love to know if there's one in the US that has it in stock... So far they are all selling the 2... at the price of the 2+
I got mine from dynamism

I noticed some phones(BB10 among them) do that to the pictures yes.
Decent R2D2, without any tweaking. I'm sure you can get a nicer print with some setting tweaks
what kid of setting tweaks? i am new...lots to learn!
Use the force to guide you
The default settings get you going but getting into the expert settings can allow you to adjust depending on the type of model you are printing. You have a new printer so settings could be different to some of ours, I would recommend to print at 30mm/s and drop the temp. Read this and this. if you still find areas of improvement then start a new topic to focus on that to keep this one about latest prints
WOW...thanks Labern! lots of reading to do!

Great! Thank God someone way more cooler than me created the unboxing videos!!!!

Ultimaker 2+ I assume?
Congratulations, exciting day for you!
Make sure to share your experience with us, show us the unboxing!
Unboxing video would actually be funny...as I am a complete newbie in 3D world!!!! and have no idea what to expect when I open the box! Will see, but most likely I will post some photos.

2 Questions. .. it was mentioned flexible materials work on the 2+... what specific materials?
Also when will the 2+ be in stock at resellers? I'm looking at ordering, and I'm seeing "shipment at the end of jan" at one reseller.
I don't need it tomorrow, but also don't want to wait for 3 weeks if I don't have to.
I am getting mine today from Dynamism in USA. They have them in stock.

maybe a stupid newbie question...
will the 2+ that I buy in US work in Europe also? Are they using the same voltage?
reason for asking is that I currently live in US, but will in coming years be back in europe....
SandervG or someone else can you please confirm before I pull the trigger?
thanks.

Thanks. I was thinking about the same...and went to 3d hubs to see if anyone had a Ultimaker but could not find anyone. I want to see U2 in action....

Hi,
New here, and would love to get a printer soon.
Any Portland area folks that have one that would not mind doing a small demo for me?
Thanks

Please help with this print

OK...so I changed the layout and swapped the sides...that worked much better.
Print speed was set to 30mm/s.
Looks like there are some serious design issues as after the outline the print started to fail 2-3 times again today...so I gave up!
Just hope its not the printer mistake!
