  1. I uninstalled Chitubox and it works now.

    Thank you.

It's too bad we have to modify or remove a working program to make another program work. Is it a problem with Cura or a problem with Chitubox?

Is either company trying to come up with a fix?

  2. I just loaded up version 4.12.0   I went to my Marketplace tab (Materials), from the menu you select from the 9 small dots, and went to Ultimaker Breakaway. It sais "Added to Cura" which it should because That's what I did.

When I go to Cura, it's not in my materials selection anywhere. (Yes, I have restarted Cura several times) If I go to Preferences - Materials - It's no where to be found. If I hit Import and search my Cura materials folders, (or anywhere on my computer) it's no where to be found.

Inside my Marketplace tab (The rectangular one now. Don't get confused) I can go to "Installed" and scroll a long way down and find "Ultimaker Breakaway" in the list with no way to click on anything here. (It's a list called "Bundled Materials" and none of them are selectable.)

But, just a short way down on this list is a section called "Installed Materials" and the only one there is 3D Universe Nylon Carbide Fiber. Not sure, but I must have selected it at some point a while back to look at it or see if importing materials worked or something like that. (I've never had an opportunity nor a desire to print with Carbon Fiber)

So if my Marketplace tab (The 9 dot one) sais it's installed, but my Marketplace tab (the rectangular one) sais it's not, what have I done wrong and where can I find it?

    Thank you,

    - Jason

  3. Maybe I'm missing something? Was there ever a search bar on this forum? I have been away for a while. I was hoping to search for some issues I have been having, but can't seem to find the search bar for the furom.

    Thanks

  4. I went into my Cura 4.5.0 with custom settings that I made a while ago, and it asks me to set up Cura, and runs through questions like it's the first time I ever opened this Cura version. (It's NOT!) Now, I don't have any of my settings from previous and it sais a BUNCH of configuration settings have errors?!?! (see image)   It's like it lost all my settings but I have no idea how or why. I had my configurations for my printers setup a certain way but never wrote down all the settings. (Why would I need to, right?)

No, I did not install ANY additional software.

No, I did not make ANY changes to my computer since the last time I used Cura.

  5. Finally got my Covid Mask done! Thought I would share it. Not my design of course. I cobbled together a few other files to create this one. (I'm sure you've all seen these Alien masks around?)  Took a long time and a lot of assembly. But fun!! Now to just get the courage up to wear it in public. LOL

  6. They still "feel" strong. 🙃

I haven't had the opportunity to try them out yet though. Got the head parts printed and then found the fan problem and tore the machine apart. (apparently for no reason since it appears it was just a firmware issue all along)

Once I get the machine back together and the heads switched out it will be fun trying the new setup. For now, work got busy (which is a good thing since it was pretty slow for the last couple weeks) so the printer is on the back burner.

And yes, Thank you Tinkergnome!!    😄

don't thank me, TinkerGnome did most of the work helping. lol.

I would try getting some magnets from a reputable source first. I found the strength of N52 magnets varied a lot between a random eBay seller and the reputable seller I bought mine from. With the eBay seller the head would pop off easily and all my problems went away with the quality magnets. Side by side you can just feel how much stronger they are even though they're both supposed to be N52 rated.

I did buy all new magnets from the source you gave me. Apex Magnets. Although they list those magnets as N48 and not N52.

    Hi @Whom,

Any chance you could share the modified head and coupling files?

    Many thanks,

I too have had a difficult time because of the extended version being taller and therefore the bowden tube being "stiffer" and forcing the clamping fixture apart when the head gets too close to back right corner of the machine. (not even THAT close to the back right corner lately, since the magnets have lost some of there force)

I do have an alternative design similar to this one, however it is simply just the original design with more magnets added to it. I couldn't see exactly how @whom was doing his design, so I just came up with my own. I have printed it, but not assembled or tried it out yet, so you would be doing so at your own risk. If you would like the files I have, I would be happy to share them. Let me know what format you would like.

Not sure if we are allowed to put our own email addresses on here? Otherwise, click my profile, go to my website and choose the "contact me" option. That works too.

Download the whole project as a ZIP folder from the main page and grab the file you need. When you download the hex file separately it won't load onto your printer properly. Believe me, been there, done that.

OK. Got it. I downloaded the whole thing, extracted it, and then copied the firmware file to my SD card. Or are you saying I need more than just the firmware file on the card for it to work properly?

OK, but there are different hex-files with this version number and the symptoms are exactly the same as if the variant without 'expansion-board' in the name is installed.

That's why this question came to my mind...

My recommendation is to double-check that "Tinker-Mark2-expansion-board-19.03.1.hex" is used

(or "Tinker-Mark2-extended-expansion-board-19.03.1.hex" if you use an UM2 extended+)

OK thanks! I will download "Tinker-Mark2-extended-expansion-board-19.03.1.hex" and install it just to be sure that is the one that is in the machine.

How exactly do I do that again? I don't see a way it will let me "copy" or download" that particular file from Github. (I don't remember how I did it before. It's been too long. And looking online it simply sais to click on "Raw" and then right click and "save as" but I do not get this option when I do that. Only to "save page as" and that obviously isn't what I want.)

  11. I have just noticed that my hot end fan on my second extruder does not turn on when heating up that nozzle. However, my primary hot end fan DOES turn on when only heating the second nozzle OR heating the primary nozzle. I have many hours of dual nozzle printing done at this point, but can not definitively tell you if this has always been the case. (I strongly do NOT believe it to be the case.) Any ideas as to why this would be going on?

I have torn down the unit to see if wires were loose either on the fan or the board and it seems everything is nice and tight.

  12. I have Ultimaker 2 Extended plus with Mark2 conversion. So I have dual extrusion.

When trying this particular print, I noticed that the prime tower has an area inside that has a gap where my red (inside) material is. The outside material (white) is my printing material and the inside is my support. (But only the support interface so as to save support material)

Any ideas as to why there is this gap and how to fix it? I fear that if I try to print this it will fail where this will not print properly?

    Thank you,

Have a look at my script which works fine for my setup  - all depends on how far your head2 sticks out!

Just change the x/y values to suit your needs for prime position.

I just looked at the start script and the only measurements for a Y move (I assume this is a Y move, going to the front of the machine? X moves would be left and right?) are....

    "G1 X15 Y0 F4000 ;move X/Y to front of printer"
