  1. Turns out the issue may be due to head gouging into the same layer when the head moves to a new print location.
  2. Recently figured out an issue that I was having with a print. On the first layer, when the print head is moving to a new start position across the already laid down filament (PLA) it's "gouging" into that part of the print causing some very apparent scaring. The second layer will cover it up to a certain extent, but the scar remains. If you preview the gcode through Cura, you can see exactly where it moves across the print. Is this something that can be prevented? Also, the very center of the first layer goes back to a ZigZag pattern instead of staying concentric. I'm running the latest version of Cura. Pics show the first layer of the print and a closeup showing some of the problem areas. Also attached is the gcode and stl for the file. Any ideas?   3. Sorry, forgot the specs. Here is the cura profile and the stl file. The print is on a SnapMaker 2.0 A250 in an enclosure. Cura is 4.11.0 running on a Mac OS 10.14.6 green cura profile.curaprofile test 1:2 ring.stl
  4. I switched printing filaments from white to green, both same type of PLA from the same manufacturer and ordered at the same time. The prints were coming out fine in the white PLA, but I just ran a first test on the green with the same Cura profile as the white and problems immediately showed up. I’m thinking that somehow the pigment is changing the filament just enough to cause issues. These gaps are showing up on the first layer on the underside, that is, the side that is in direct contact with the bed. At first I thought these gaps were caused by under extrusion or a temperature issue. I ran a temp tower, and the best quality is around 205 C, which is the temp It’s been running with both the white and green filament. Played with the flow, upped it to 130%, not much difference, changed the first layer height from 0.2 to 0.24mm, not much difference. Here's some pictures, first a picture of the area with good printing (printed object is 0.2 inches or so across). The next picture shows an area with poor printing. Third picture shows a poor attempt at putting the Cura path lines alongside the print. And finally a closeup of the problem area. I'm out of ideas on this. Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
  5. Ok, I made a simple gcode file of the very top layer, imported it into Cura and watched the animation of the print. I'm including a link to the animation and a couple of screenshots showing where it's going wrong on the prints. It appears to be an issue as the fill is not touching both the inside and outside of the item. I have the iron pattern set to zig zag, but it's not really zig zagging, but drawing parallel lines. Is this something that is fixable? (sorry, had trouble converting it to a gif that was usable, so had to upload it to youtube).
  6. Oops, forgot to mention, it's 1.75mm black PLA.
  7. I'm using Cura 4.11.0 on a Macintosh to slice my designs for printing on a Snapmaker A250. I've turned on ironing on the top layer only, and where it works, it smooths perfectly. The problem is it doesn't smooth the entire surface, but leaves portions of the surface actually rougher then if iron wasn't on. Here's a couple of pictures, sorry for the brightness but I needed to be able to show the issue. You can see at the top and bottom of the print it's really rough. I've had this issue with a couple of different designs now. I'm including the curaprofile, the stl file and the gcode file. Any help will be greatly apppreciated.
