WOW, worked for me as well.  This poor / marginal functionality has been frustrating me for months, maybe years.  How did you ever figure that out?

I did save the old .py file as a back up in case this completely screwed up the Cura or plugin installations.

    SolidWorks  2022 SP 1.0 and Cura 4.13.1

    Have you contacted the developer?

    "google is your friend" 🙂

    No. I haven't.

Try "Run as Administrator" when starting Cura. That works for me. I started having this issue somewhere around 4.11 (or 4.12)

Thanks. That works 🙂 All i need now, is to have my admin come every morning, and start Cura on my pc 😕

    Hi there,

we are planning to buy an Ultimaker S5, because of this solidworks integration, but unfortunately there is a consistant error occuring. Perhaps you can resolve my problem easily. I have Solidworks 2021 installed and Ultimaker Cura 4.13.1 with the Solidworks Integration plugin. The Solidworks macro was set up as descibed in the tutorial.

So now I should be able to oben Solidworks files and transfer data by clicking on the macro to Cura. But I am not. Below are the error message, the simple part that I tested, and the export options for STL.

Any idea how I can get this going? It would be a great improvment for our workflow.

    Thanks in advance

    Max

We (VOLA R&D) have the same setup. But no macro. And we have the same problem. 70 to 80% of the imported files fails. And ther dont seam to be a pattern! What do we do???

That is a question you probably would have to ask to igus since it's the manufacturer who decides if a material should be made compatible with the material station.

Hi, thank you for your message. As you can see on this material page it says it is not compatible with the Material Station. This might be because it doesn't have the start sequence in the profile that is necessary for the material station. I believe it is possible to work around this, no promises though. Like you might get away by saying it is iGus I150 instead.  Let me check!

Any news on the I180 and the Material Station?

Hello, thank you for your message. Do you mean this profile?

On the profile page it says it is compatible for the Ultimaker S5 but not yet for the full Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle. This optimisation for the material station is probably not finished yet. I'm happy to hear you found a workaround with a different profile. Would it be possible to share some pictures of the prints you've made?

    Thank you!

    Hi. Yes. That's the profile.

We could share some pictures. How do you want them?

    Hi

I've been running the same sort of print schedule for at least a month now. I have never seen the issue. For whatever reason, the scrap all piles up at the side / front of the machine and stays there. It's not clear to me that I'm doing anything special other than cleaning out all the prime strings on a regular basis.

We are printing 90 % PET. We clean out two times per print job.

I'd say that's a wrong assumption. That there are only two posts on the forum don't mean that the problem isn't there or give and indikation on the problems size.

1: This bundle is mostly addressed to companies. Companies don't necessarily read or comment on the forum.

2: People whit the problem see that its already adressed and just follow one of them, whit out commenting. Waiting for a solution.

3: People whit the problem have already returned the product.
I personally had exactly the same problem, I haven't comment on it because I don't use that unit any more.

We (R&D dep.) returned our first Material Station in December. Then we bought a new one in February. The new one have less issues. But the software / firmware still needs some work.

Hi, thank you for sharing your experiences here.

After reading your post yesterday I checked in with our product experts to get a feel for the frequency that this can happen and the severity of it when it does. I understood that it could happen quite rarely. Explains why there are 'only' 1 or 2 other reports here, and not more. (Obviously, 1 or 2 occurrences should be considered too much for any issue that exists).

Luckily, the shouldn't result in any large or potentially damaging issues.

As a fix, we are improving the priming sequence and in the near future it will prime less, which should prevent this from happening again. For the time being, I would suggest to keep an occasional eye on it and remove the strands when you see it.

    Our apologies for the inconvenience.

    Hi

We are doing 5 to 8 prints a week. And this has happened 3 times in the last two weeks.

We will be looking forward to the update.
