  1. Yes, filling in 0 for Z works, but ... having a shorcut key to do this would simplify life so much, especially when you often use standard objects (via the suitable plug-in) to then add modifiers to parts of the print. You don't want those modifier objects to always be on the build-plate, so you have to turn off the "automatically drop to build-plate" option, but then for the actual printed parts, you do want them on the build-plate, so ... a shortcut (may I propose CTRL-SHIFT Z) would really be appreciated.
  2. First of all: Thanks to all those actively working on Cura and bringing us this 4.8 beta! Cura is great and the beta just made automatic object positioning a lot more usable, but ... I would love to see a setting where you could indicate that your printer has a preference for a certain axis (ex. because of a heavy bed making Y movement more tricky than X movement) and then have the object positioning taking that into account so that first the preferred direction is filled up before extending in the other direction. The current algorithm seems to try to put all objects as close to the center as possible, but often that is not ideal for i3-alike printers with a heavy bed moving for the Y axis ...
