Hi Carlo- I installed 3.7.7 and was then able to upgrade step by step to the latest firmware that is available for the UM3 https://software.ultimaker.com/jedi/releases/UM3_recovery-3.7.7.20170627.imgThis is not correct I think 3.7.7 format the whole memory and therefore repairs the drive. I also think that it was bad data rather than a physical bad block as my printer killed itself while on standby....

So cool it worked out! did you go beyond the limit switches?

Before I installed the old firmware I did try to run formatting command through Jesse Linux(warning tone) and gr5 s5 firmware and then I did the old one- but I think it is the old firmware which did the trick

You have an Ultimaker 3 not a 5 like he had

Hey Jordy mine works again- all I needed to do is to calibrate the lifting switch there is a nice video from Ultimaker of how to do it and now I'm upgrading the firmware. I really don't know why the first firmware recovery didn't work....very wired but it saved me a couple of 100 Euros..:-)

Hey gr5 I tried to run: a20-lime2_mainline_uboot_sunxi_kernel_3.4.103_jessie_eMMC_rel_16.im on my ultimaker but the machine sounded a warning tone the whole time it was on and I coudn't execute mkfs.f2fs /dev/mmcblk1p2 -l root any ideas?

I forgot my cardreader and will continue on wednesday- anyone knows if keyboard works via putty? it does nothing when I connect it. GR5 - did your keyboard show input when connected or did you connect your keyboard on the board directly?

I managed to connect the serial cable correctly: Install driver: https://www.olimex.com/Products/Components/Cables/USB-Serial-Cable/USB-SERIAL-F/ (->software: https://www.olimex.com/Products/Components/Cables/USB-Serial-Cable/_resources/win_x86_x64_drivers_usb_cable.zip) install putty: https://www.putty.org/ open window in putty: maybe change COM3 to COM1->device manager tells you where the serial USB cable is connected now you should have a black serial window and you can power up your ultimaker

I think I found the serial pins and ordered a serial to USB cable. It's out of warranty- I try to reformat the flash memory before buying a new board.
