Retraction in Quickprint Mode

I have been experimenting with settings on my Ultimaker and have been impressed with how good the settings are in Quickprint mode. The only downside to Quickmode is that I get a lot of stringing across spans and between objects. Is there some reason that retraction is turned off in Quickprint Mode? I would like to understand the downside of retraction since that seems to reduce the stringing.
