Saw that a few days ago and is indeed the way to go.

Slic3r already has something like that (but ofc not automagic)

The only issue I can see (I mean from a practical point) is that when you print smaller layers from 0.2 to 0.1 for example, the amount of filament changes (mm3) so in theory the best thing to do also would be to adjust the temperature of the heater. And that could be tricky because if you change the temperature the plastic 'look' like color, gloss/matte changes, so it could leave some color artifacts.

Anyhow it could be really fun.
