Which source to use to compile modified firmware?

Posted · Which source to use to compile modified firmware?

I have Ultimaker 2.

Somehow the firmware which is uploaded by Cura is different from what I get when I try to compile https://github.com/Ultimaker/Ultimaker2Marlin.

When I use latest master, I get unstable extruder temperature (with firmware uploaded from Cura the temperature is stable). When I tried to build from 15.04.6 tag, when trying to level a buildplate, it slammed nozzle into bed.

Do I need to change configuration after I download firmware from repo? Do I need to use specific branch?
