Hello , im going to buy a 3D machine to my factory and i dont know witch one to buy , i heard a lot of good things about bout brands MakerBot and Ultimaker , but i dont know witch one is best for making prototype heels. Whats the diferences between both about the printing and programs?

Theres also a web page for Makerbot that is called ww.thingverse.com that people can share there projects and you can print any of the projects you want for free but that is only for makerbot and i would like to know if theres any thing like that for Ultimaker.

Thank you for the attention best regards Jogral www.jogral.pt

    Hi Jogral,

Thank you for your message and welcome to the forums!

Before you buy a 3D Printer, I would like to invite you to look up some user experiences from different vendors and include that in your decision making process.

The files you can find on thingiverse can be used for practically all 3D printers, so also Makerbot and Ultimaker. But just in case, Ultimaker is also connected to a repository called youmagine.com

What do you need a 3D printer to do, in order to make your best heels?

What materials do you want to use? How big are those heels? What quality do you expect? Do you ever want to make anything else except heels? Are you looking to make a final product or prototypes?

Hi thanks for the reply , our ideia for now is only to make prototypes , the client say what he wants and we do a prototype and if he is interested we start doing the production. The materials i dont really know witch one to use but what we pretend is make a solid heel with some detail to the client see if he wants and that he can try in his shoe mould.

The max size of some of our heels are 14cm.

Yes i would like to maybe some times use the printer for other things but our priority and reason for buying it is only for making prototype heels.
