Leaning Prints on UM2

I've been working my UM2 pretty hard recently, and right at the end of a 25 hour print, the print started to create a lean from left to right (see images below). I've followed all the guide instructions - tightened all pulleys, loosened and re-tightened all pulleys, removed both stepper motors and adjusted pulleys to be around 0.5 mm from motor, made sure nothing is touching the belts and oiled the axes. I've had a little improvement, but still getting a significant lean. I also have a strange rattle when the print head moves from right to left across the front. This can be heard in the video. I appreciate all the tips I've found so far. Hopefully someone knows of the one I may have missed.

Thanks for the reply. I've gone through all these items several times and still getting the leaning. I'm sure it's related to the rattling noise when my printer moves from right to left. You can hear it in the video. This is when the drag is happening. I just can't nail down where it's coming from. I printed a single .25" dia. cylinder in the middle of the printer and it came out perfectly straight. When I try one at each of the four corners, they're all leaning heavily to the right.

    Hi,

Maybe have a look at this link that should help you.

Update: I've just finished loosening and re-tightening all the pulleys down and things seem to be running smoothly again. I realized the problem originally started because my print was about 1/8" too far to the right and the right fan scrubbed against the inside wall of the printer as it laid the first layer, throwing everything off and apparently throwing my pulleys out of whack. I still have the rattling noise, but printer seems to be running fine in spite of it.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
