Posted · How do I get printing status in extension?

I want to make a plugin that expose various statuses of the active print - like in the monitor tab - to a rest api. There doesn't seem to be a lot of docs or example surrounding this. I tried digging through the code, however cura is a quite big project, so I figure I asked here first, hoping someone more familiar with the codebase can give me a pointer.

My impression is that I need to acquire an instance of PrinterOutputModel, which expose a lot of events I want. Is this the right way to go? If so, how can I get hold to an instance of this class?
