I have been struggling with this plug in for about 2 months ... sometimes I can get it to work, but generally, it puts circles where the tabs are to go, but does not slice or print them.

I have finally figured out how they work, so if you are having problems, there are a couple of simple steps to take ..

Enable 'suppports'

make sure 'support density' is set to 100%

make sure 'support angle' is set to 90 degrees. (this stops the slicer putting any other supports in place)

now just select your model, select Tabs+, and place them where you want them on the model.

They should now slice and print ...

thanks for the reply ... I had previously read that wiki ... I still can't make it work ... and need them because the models I am printing have some very small areas .. 5 mms square .. touching the bed, and they often lift.  I have switched to Prusa for these models, as they have a similar system where you can add parts (circles) to you model ... bit cumbersome, but works pretty well ... thanks for reply ... this plug in really needs work ....

I too, am having this problem.  I appears that 5.4 beta broke the tab plug-in - so that the slicer either doesn't see the tabs or thinks they are under the work surface.  In 5.3 the tabs won't print unless they are two layers thick, and then only prints the second layer - so the 5.4 beta may be having problems with the z position of the tabs but worse than 5.3.

I prefer 5.4 beta, so I hope someone fixes this soon.

This is a known Cura bug that doesn't just affect custom supports or Tab element. The problem comes from the "Enable Support Brim" option for supports, which must not be activated if you don't use any "Build Plate Adhesion Types".

This problem has exist since the first Beta versions of 5.3.

Wow!!  Thank you so much.  After trying everything I could think of it never occurred to me that having support brim activated when part adhesion was something other than brim would effect something (like custom supports) which require supports to be inactivated.  Sort of a double negative.  Thanks for pointing that out.  I suspect I would have eventually found a comment from years ago - it’s so much easier when someone who knows helps out.

    Again, thank you.

Problem is it kills the slice - will not slice - even if "Enable Support Brim" is not activated, no matter what type of "Build Plate Adhesion Types" are used, including "none" in 5.4 beta.  On the other hand, it works in 5.3.

    So something has changed.

Yes it's a bug in the 5.4 Beta 1 . It looks like solved in 5.4 Beta 2 and 5.5 Alpha

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
