Refresh menu items in extension?

Hi UltiMaker community!

I'm currently developing a plugin that includes an extension.

The plugin allows users to login to a service, and I'd like for the (top bar) menu to have two states:

1. A log in option if the user is not logged in

2. A log out and a settings item  if the user is logged in

But I can't seem to figure out if it's possible to change the content of the menu after it has already been cached.

I am hoping someone has an idea of how to execute this, or an alternative method.

Thanks!
