Feature request - nozzle profiles(?)

Posted · Feature request - nozzle profiles(?)

Hi,

I think that Cura is missing on Nozzle/Quality setting front.

Just lately I have been changing nozzles a lot, mainly between 0.4 and 0.6.

While printing with 0.6 nozzle, I like to use layers of 0.3 mm.

Similarly it is 0.4 for 0.8 nozzle.

And it will be 0.1 (0,15 initial layer) for 0.2 nozzle, when I get to printing tiny.

Since there is already material and nozzle dialog in "Prepare" view (top of the screen), maybe it would be possible to add "nozzle profiles" similar to material settings.

After changing the nozzle size, relevant settings could be updated in Quality block.

Or approaching it from the other side, maybe Quality profiles could be make more flexible?

I could live with different Quality profile for each nozzle, but just now these profiles mix all global settings, and it is not working well when I change both nozzle and material.

Maybe there is some workaround, in that case please let me know 🙂

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
