  7. thank you for the help. I am testing Netfabb Basic and tested my basic model, seems all good (imported from 3d max format) then now I have my netfabb model and i think the next step is to bring this model into Skeinforge, get my GCODE and then open that in Replicator for printing. here is a screen shot. Ian
  8. thanks Daid for the help !! so would this be the right process. (1) make model in 3ds max (2) open 3ds file in MeshLap and check that every thing is closed up and working. (3) Then save as STL and bring it into Netfabb or Replicator. (4) Then print from ReplicatorG. is that right ? thanks. Ian
  9. Hi guys. I have a building model built in 3ds format. From looking around, I simply need to save my 3ds file out as STL and then bring it into ReplicatorG or (for money) Netfabb. Can I please ask if for example there are openings in the 3ds model and that gets transfered over to the STL, will that crash the printer or will the rpinter try to fill in the spaces? If I have to fix this type of model problem, should i do it in my 3d program or does RepligatorG or Netafbb allow repair and modifications of the model ? Also do any of these software allow me to split a large model into 2 or 3 slices and then print one after the other, 3 seperate jobs split from one model ? thanks guys and look forward to your replys. Best wishes. Ian

I downloaded the DXF drawing for the cutting list of the ultimaker thingsuniverse site but after i sent the drawing to a few different lazer cutting companies for a good price, they all told me they cant give me a quote becasue the cutter does not know which line is to be cut and which line is to be engraved. am i missing something in the dxf file ? or are all lines cut equally ? any help would be super. thanks. Ian

  18. thanks for the help. the reason im asking about this maschine is becasuse my boss found it on the internet and it says these are being built in germany. my company is german. also it is made out of metal and my boss told me, people are not so sure about putting a wood printer into the office. believe it or not, the boss says, it doesnt look professional. oh god help me. if they buy a lumb of fire wood because it looks more... professional.... ill eat my hat. Ian
  19. I was shopping around for prices of plastic and keep finding both 1.75mm plastic and 3mm plastic. does that mean that the extruder has a 3mm nozzle, only the 3mm will work and the same for 1.75 nozzle. what size does the ultimaker take ? and does the user get a better resolution from the 1.75 ? also one last associated question. If i get once of these 2.4kg reels, how many models can i make from that ? just trying to work out loosely material cost ? thanks guys. Ian
  20. in just looked at ownes design, that looks really brilliant ! can i ask you guys, is solidworks used for modeling these products ? I am thinking maybe solidworkds might be the best realistic software for developing solid ultimaker models. best wishes. Ian
