Mhh, ich habs nicht getestet, könnte aber an den 15 °C Sicherheitsreserve liegen, die die Elektronik bei Temperaturen annimmt, damit es bei Überschreiten derselben nicht sofort zum MAXTEMP-Fehler kommt. Man muss also die Temps immer 15 °C höher einstellen als die höchste Temperatur, die man am UC dann anwählen möchte. In deinem Fall also 135 °C.

Your video rig extension is simply awesome! I already thought about printing my own rig but haven't found the time yet. There are already a few video rig systems on Thingiverse to download. Of course not so stiff and rigid as metal ones, but for the first tests - why not! Isn't that cool! Some time ago you had to buy that expensive stuff. Now you can make it at home in a few ours for a fraction of the costs. You just download a file and print it out. 3d printing is just amazing.

Den Marlin-Builder können wir laut Daid erst mal auf absehbare Zeit vergessen. :-/ Hier gibts aber ne Anleitung wie man sich seine eigene Firmware kompilieren kann. Sind nur 2-3 Sachen, die man in der configuration.h ändern muss.

Sieht gut aus. Und schön, wenn es so klappt, auch wenn ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen kann, warum das Zusammenstecken auf herkömmlichem Wege nicht funktionieren wollte.
Vielleicht lag es an den zwei Linearlagern? Diese müssen richtig fest im Sperrholz stecken, so wie in der Anleitung im Wiki gezeigt. Das hat bei mir auch nicht sofort geklappt und ich musste noch etwas von den Aussparungen im Holz wegfeilen.

No lacquer. The airbrush gun strongly depends on your preferences. It's not a good idea to give recommendations there because everyone has other needs. The only point I want to emphasize is to NOT buy cheap airbrush guns from eBay. Their quality is just so bad that you won't have any fun with them. Because of colors you can use every airbrush color you like. Don't buy the cheap ones. With the not-so-cheap stuff you will get good results, independent from the brand.

Ian hier im Forum druckt für sein Architektenbüro auch Architekturmodelle aus - vollständig aus PLA. Für solche "Schaumodelle" ist dieses Material völlig ausreichend. Auch im Modellbaubereich verwendet man gerne PLA.
Für thermisch und teilweise auch mechanisch beanspruchte Teile würde ich ABS bevorzugen.
Wichtig: Für den Anfang ist PLA deutlich (!) einfacher zu verarbeiten.

1.) 0.2 mm meint wohl die Schichtstärke, 0.0125 mm die Positioniergenauigkeit des Druckkopfes. Das eine hat mit dem anderen nichts zu tun. Fakt ist, dass der Ultimaker sehr genau und fein drucken kann. Schichtstärken von 0.06 mm sind kein Problem.
2.) Dann bist du beim Ultimaker gut aufgehoben, siehe Antwort 1. Spritzspachtel geht, dickflüssigere Farbe, Schleifpapier, Feilen, Dremel und so weiter. Das hängt sehr stark vom Objekt ab. Ab 0.06 mm verschwimmen allerdings schon die Grenzen, da die Schichten dort bereits so dünn sind, dass eine Nachbearbeitung nicht mehr in jedem Fall nötig wird.
3.) Der Makerbot ist ein vormontiertes Gerät mit Stahlgehäuse, Doppelextruder usw. Den Ultimaker gibt es auch als Kit zum Selbstaufbauen. Wenn du PLA drucken möchtest, dann greif zum Ultimaker.
4.) Jeder Drucker hat so seine Vor- und Nachteile. Vergleiche den Markt, die Frage kann man nämlich auch nicht so pauschal beantworten. Der Ultimaker wurde im Make-Magazin Druckertest als bester 3D-Drucker bewertet. Das sagt schon ziemlich viel aus.

Seriously, acetone is the candy under the chemicals. It's not toxic nor carcinogenic. It isn't even irritant to the body although it has some drying effect to the skin. Of course nobody wants to breath the acetone vapors, but even then it's not toxic at all although you might experience a little bit of headache thanks to the amount of acetone intruding the body. To be honest, the body produces acetone contentiously for itself as it is a derivative of so-called ketones which is a metabolic waste product. You have always a bit of acetone in you as a part of your metabolism.If you want to try the bad stuff then use DCM (but I won't recommend).

My friend was quite happy of course.
For post-processing only a little bit of dremel, sandpaper, and acetone vapor. Nothing special here. It's ABS with layer heights of 0.15 mm, so it was more a "rough" model before.

Die Plattform ist aber nur oben beim Teil mit dem Logo gesteckt. Über das mittlere Brettchen ist auch die linke Seite verschraubt. Normalerweise sollte da nichts herausrutschen! Schrauben fest genug angezogen? Das Speerholz hält schon was aus. Zur Not über Holzleim nachdenken. Die Demontage, sollte eine mal nötig werden, ist dann aber nicht mehr so einfach...

Hey guys,
A few days ago I found a cool 3d model of a "headcrab" on Thingiverse which is a fictional alien-like enemy found in the Half-Life video game series but I guess most of you already know these little guys. I thought that it could be a great little gift for a good friend of mine who is a huge Half-Life fan so I printed it on my Ultimaker and did some post-processing for a smooth surface finish. I also painted it with an airbrush gun. The figurine is about 11 cm long.

MakerBot has done everything fine and would I've been in the same position as Bre Pettis i'd sold the company, too.
I'm excited to see true innovations in the consumer 3d printer market from now on.

Interesting review. Have you also experimented with different temperature ranges? Laybrick should have a very smooth appearance when printed with lower temps, and a rough sandstone-like look and feel when printed with higher temps.

"Silent-Lüfter" sind eben auf geringe Lautheit getrimmt und nicht auf hohen Luftdurchsatz/Druck. Evtl. darüber nachdenken Industrielüfter zu kaufen.

Instead of ABS you can give Premium PLA 90 from Orbi-Tech a try which has a comparable softening temp to ABS but is easier to handle.

Wieso machst du auf die Aluplatte noch dick Glas drauf? Glas ist so ein schlechter Wärmeleiter. Wer weiß, was von den 100 °C oben noch ankommt. Das ist oben einfach noch viel zu kalt (lässt sich mit nem IR-Thermometer überprüfen). Das Kapton direkt aufs Alu, das hält dann schon mal besser.
Ich drucke ABS auf Alu-Heizbett bei mind. 105 °C, sehr große Objekte mit hohem Infill auch mal mit 115 °C. Und immer mit Brim drucken! Kisslicer, den ich meist benutzte, kanns noch nicht. Dann eben manuell im 3D-Programm nachhelfen. Cura aber auch Slic3r könnens aber schon von sich aus.
