    mmm, no, I have not noticed these "noises" ... perhaps the screw that adjusts the distance of the ball bearing was too tight and requires a greater effort from the feeder ?

  2. Hi gr5, for the AVR memory map (AVR is the Atmel series of MCU used on Arduino UNO, Mega, Leonardo, etc ... NOT in Arduino DUE, Zero, and other using ARM) you can read HERE.

    They use for the tutorial the ATMega8515, on the Arduino MEGA 2560 you have the ATmega2560 MCU which have :

    Flash (program memory) : 256 KB (of which 8 KB used by bootloader)

    SRAM : 8 KB

    EEPROM : 4 KB

  4. I bought some grey PLA a while ago and never had a chance to use it until recently.

    ... a while ago ... is ... 6 months ? 9 months ? 12 months ?

    Because, more and more, people here have problems with old PLA (> 9 months) that becomes brittle, rigid and very difficult to print.

  5. Oh no!  I installed the Tinker Firmware and when I use OctoPrint, my nozzle will shut off as soon as it gets to temperature on every print.

    I don't use OctoPrint (... I still believe that USB printing is NOT reliable, but it is just my personal opinion), but, as also tinkergnome said, this should not happen so ... please follow thinkergnome instructions and open ad issue on GitHub ...

    ... and you help all the community to have a better firmware :)

  6. You guys already tested the filament outage with the tunnel sensor. What is the procedure if the sensor detects the outage ?

    With the Tinker firmware, when the sensor put LOW the PC7, triggers the pause menu (... exactly like if you choose "pause" from the control panel). Solved the problem, you have to push the "reset" button on the filament monitor and to manually resume the printer.

  7. The photocell sensor comes complete on a board for less than 2 EUR including shipping ;)

    Sorry, but you're talking about two different things ...

    ... with your optocoupler you just detect that the filament is finish/broken.

    What the "filament monitor" do is much more complex ... with a "rotary encoder" he detect the movement of the filament (... counting steps per time) and can alert you also if something goes wrong and the filament can't move (e.g. nozzle clogging, filament grinding, etc. ...) !!! ;)

    :D:D:D... believe me, it works like a charm ;)

    You have just to adjust the timeout to avoid "fake positive alert" (default 8 sec. is too short, go to 20/25 sec.) .

     

    I think the tunell sensor is surprisingly expensive, but i probably could take a fancy to the tiny cheap optical sensor...

     

    Yes is expensive but ... the time to make the board, to mount, etc. etc. ... not worth it, better buy it ;)

    P.S.: the only annoying thing is that you need to remember to reset the sensor before each print.

  9. May I ask why your flow is on 110% and why your temperature is on 220°?

     

    Yes, sure :)

    Just because I have made many tests and these are the settings that have given me the best results :)

    Please ... keep in mind that I have old roll of PLA/PHA ColorFabb (more that 9 months) and, although closed, are still aged and are still more difficult to print than fresh ones.

  10. Switching now would only increase the difficulties as a lot of people already have models converted into 'the way cura wants them'.

     

    What about adding a simple switch (on/off) in Cura General Preferences to rotate or not ? Should be quite easy and anybody can choose ;)

  11. ... and I would like to add that, today, after many prints, the only real negative point that I found on ESUN filaments is ... that they age even if sealed in their original packaging and, after 6/9 months, become brittle and difficult to use. :(

    So, don't buy more than you need :D

  12. eSun was especially a huge nightmare, despite its low cost.

     

    ESUN it's only a difficult filament which requires patience and time to figure out the right parameters for printing.

    For me too, at the beginning, was a nightmare, but, after spending one week changing speed, temperature and flow (... with the great help of one of European distributor, La Boutique du 3D), now ... (25 hours print)

  13. ... maybe is not coded as a series of "gcode" commands, but directly as a "motor movements" instructions inside the firmware.

    It runs if, at the beginning of gcode,  is found the statement ";FLAVOR:UltiGCode" ...

  14. Could you give a try with my stl file and see if this happens as well? Like i've wrote before - i scale only Z to 150 mm.

     

    It's exactly my file ... Spiral-02 :D

    But, if I scale down to 150mm ... I can't print (... probably because of my other settings and because I'm using a 0.6 nozzle)

    Anyway is never a good idea to scale an STL file ... you must preferably start from the 3D model and scale the model, then export in STL ;)

Nice and useful :), but the "Tunell Monitor", as the name says, is different and does much more because he monitors the movement of the filament and automatically pause the printer not only if the filament is missing, but also if the filament is not moving for a certain period (e.g. clogged nozzle) ;)

  16. Quick answer ... with a 3D CAD :D

    Going back to being serious, what is your "experience" with 3D design? If you are a "beginner", it is probably easiest to start with something simple ... e.g. you can try Tinkercad ... is on-line (you do not have to install any software), is quite easy and is "free" ;)
