  1. I use aquanet extra hold no scent or suave extra hold for filament types.
  2. Thanks all for info. Is there a stand alone program that will send the G-Code to the printer over the USB channel?
  3. OK My printer is a Creality 3D CR-10. Is there a firmware that I can install to enable the USB printing?
  4. Howdy every one. I am tiring to print using the USB port. I can get it to see the USB (by selecting Comm 3 not the auto dect) with version 1.5. I can run the leveling function it work's properly, but won't print. Also version 1.5 is not slicing my model. I heard some where version 1.5 has STL file size limit. The model I am trying to slice is 200Meg bytes. It loads in just fine, but will not slice!!! I tried version 2.3, it does not see the printer on the USB port. My computer chimes when I connect the USB cable, so my computer see the printer but Cura does not see it!!! Any clues on how to fix this problem? Rocket Nut
  5. geet_2: Your thinking of NASA type of rockets. This booster is make for model rocketry. Meaning most of the things you mentioned, do not apply with is project. Most model rockets are made with paper tubes, balsa wood fins and possible some plastic parts (nose cone, fins, payload compartments, ETC) . For this project I am using a 3D printed booster for a multi stage bird.
  6. How can I zoom in on the model? I want to check some small details on the model. Thanks
  7. You can find all tech info (along with pics) at MAMMOTH Stage 1 Booster V2 As you can see this a larger bird. I using Taulman Nylon Bridge 3D Printing Filament. I have not used PET or PET. What are advantage and differences of these from filaments? I like that XTC-3D smoothies the surface of the print, making more the booster more aerodynamic reducing drag. I am still a newbe to 3D printing. I really a appreciate you all shearing your wisdom. Rocket Nut
  8. Looking at the G-Code in notepad I noticed at the beginning of each layer the layer number is commented into the code. So I can insert the require code by using notepad (or some other word processor). I can determine the layer number using Curas layers view mode. Then using notepads find function I can find the required layer in the code. Then it's a simple matter of insert the required G-Code. Meaning I only need the G-Code to pause and move the nozzle out of the way (like moving nozzle to 0 X-Axis). Any help is appreciated!
  9. Thanks yellowshark I am working a model rocket booster for a multi stage bird. If the math is correct it could be over 1500FT when it drops off. It should tumble on the way down, reducing the force of impact. May be adding carbon fiber or fiber glass strands to the coating will possibly increase survivable.
  10. Does any one know what coating I can use to to strengthen a model so it will not beak at the outer shell layers? The project I am working has to survive and not break when dropped from high heights. So I want to coat the model with a hard coating to ensure it does not break alone the shells layers. Thanks Rocket Nut
  11. The reel says it PLA. I will try a higher temp with my next print, along with turning off the fan. As for ABS and Carbon Fiber filament some one suggested I enclose my printer. I live in a very small apt, so I don't have the room nor the equipment to build the enclosure. Any suggestions on how to print ABS an Carbon Fiber with out the enclosure? I notice my previous post does show my screen shot! Did it appear when you read it?
  12. I am using a Creality 3D® CR-10 (CV-10 printer) large format printer and Cura 2.3.1. What plug in do I need to do the pause-at-Z setting? Is there a function that moves the print head to 0, like the Change Filament controller function does , so the print head is not in the way that could possibly throw off the head tracking off?
  13. Hello I am making a battery case that I want to print with the battery in place. Is there a way to tell the printer to pause so I can add the battery then resuming the print (encasing the battery on all sides)?
  14. Sorry for the delay. Whats the setting so I get an email notice when a reply has been post to my posts? I am using a Creality 3D® CR-10 printer. This delamination (please see attached screen shot) was with PLA filament. As for ABS I am still tiring (newbe status) different settings to find out what will be the best. I am also using ABS to learn how to print with carbon fiber filament, which is needed for this model hes the required proper strength.
  15. Salutations Why does the outer shell splinting? What I am talking about is when a layer does not adhere to the previous layer, causing a gap (warping) between layers on the shell. This is not warping from the build table but after several (>200) layers has been printed. Like on one model was 128mm an another was only about 55mm tall when the warp happened. This warping seems to be random. Also as more layers are added the gap seems to grow. I have seen this with PLA,Nylon an ABS filament. Any clues on why this is happening? Rocket Nut
  16. Version 1.0

    5,700 downloads

A test to see if the CV-10 printer can print a very large model.
  17. OK I will check the expert settings. For right now I have added supports to the CAD file (please see attached screen shot). Side Note: According to Cura it's going to take 24.5 hours to print. Does that sound correct?
  18. Thanks for the quick response:) I am using Cura 15.04.3. You can down load the part at: DataLogger Support Frame Please be aware the part is huge (W=54.4,D=39.8,H=247) and will not fit normal desktop prints, so you might have to scale it down for your printer. I have a Creality CR10 (CV-10 3D Printer), which is a large format (300,300,400) printer. I will do as you suggested by adding the supports to the CAD file, and turn off Cura's support. I do not understand what you are talking about:O Again thanks for quick response. Rocket Nut
  19. Hello I am newbe to 3D printing. The part I want to print needs support (Touching buildplate). As you can seen in the attached screen shot, the middle tab does not have any support. How do I get that center tab supported? Thanks and have a great day Rocket Nut
