  1. STEMFIE rubber-band-driven car

    This toy car is easy to 3D-print and quick to build. It is the first project demonstrating the new and fully 3D-printable educational construction set toy; you can download from stemfie.org.
     
    This project exhibits the retention and controlled release of energy to achieve motion. The inspiration for this design is borrowed from science classes in schools, using the mousetrap challenge.

  4. Fox Head

    This is the first 3D model I ever printed and I was and am very proud of it.
     
    A few months ago, I started working in a university library makerspace. I had never worked with or used 3D printers before, so I felt a little in over my head. In the week before I began, I brushed up on research about what makes a good 3D model, how to sculpt objects, etc. I ended up downloading a sculpting app called Forger on my iPad and spent about six hours one afternoon shaping a sphere into the shape of this fox head over many iterations. After a while, I got the hang of it and it felt conceptually just like molding clay in "the real world." On my second day of training when my supervisor showed me how to use Cura, I sliced and printed the .obj out of PLA on one of our UM3's. It took just about 4 hours at a 1.0mm layer height, if I remember correctly. It is still one of my proudest creations out of all of the things I've made here with the 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutter/plotters, etc.
     
    In a small way, I think that experienced ruined TinkerCad for me, since I had already poured so much effort into learning sculpting softwares first. I love showing TinkerCad to students who are just starting out, but I often get frustrated with its limitations. I'd love to graduate to Blender eventually, but there's so much going on and it's a bit overwhelming to me still. Right now on the computer, I stick to using Meshmixer, which is somewhere in the middle, like a more robust version of what I was using on the iPad. If anyone is interested in sculpting their own organic models, I highly recommend checking it out.

  5. Dom toren - Utrecht

    After searching the net again and again, I did not found a nice Dom Tower variant to print.
    So I decided to create my own versions:
    Single piece version (20 cm tall) Duplo compatible (big colored one, 53 cm tall) Lego compatible (PLA brons fill & Glow in the dark) Christmas edition (PLA silver, optional having 3 electric candles inside)
    Unfortunately the electric candles are still somewhere in China so I'm still curious how this will look like..

  6. Qashqai Bin

    This is a bin to fit in the door pockets of a MK1 Nissan Qashqai (2007-2013)
    The bin is primarily designed for the front door, to fit where a drink bottle is intended to go. It will also fit the back door.
    The Qashqai has nowhere to put sweet papers and other small pieces of litter, hence this bin.
    I printed this in black PLA on my UMO with a layer thickness of 0.25.

  7. A suggestion for a new support type- I Call it "Ramifications"

    This is a suggestion to develop a new type of support that gows from the side of the printed part instead of the print bed.
    This could reduce material used for support and reduce print time.
    I have done two tests to compare, the design can be improved and i am sure a slincing algorythm can be added maybe in "Cura" to have Ramification support.
    I added Pictures and the models of two comparative parts.
    Let me know what you think and if you can develop the algorythm. This is totally open source suggestion i claim no right for. I only would like it to be named "Ramificaitons".

  8. Ultimaker 2 Filament Guide V2

    A filament guide which can adapt itself to different diameters and widths of the spool.
     
    Improvements to the first version:
    - The version 2 (the white parts on the pictures) can now catch and release the filament without pulling it back.
    - Thanks to a snap connection between the holder and the sphere no glue is required anymore.

  9. Goat Horns

    Last special order. 3d sculpting and 3d printing of goat horns in polypropylene. I chose this material because it's robust and lightweight. With only a 1.8mm shell, I have a weight of about 60gr for a single horn. A led system will illuminate the symbols.
     
    Print settings :

    Printer -> UM2 + Bloc Olsson + Bondtech
    Nozzle -> 0.6mm
    Material -> Centaur PP (polypropylene)
    Layerheight -> 200µm
    Shell -> 3 (1.8mm) + Top/Bottom 9 lignes (1.8mm)
    Infill -> 0%
    Temperature -> Nozzle 235° / Bed 30°
    Fan Speed -> 100%
    Speed -> 40mm/s and the 1st layer at 30mm/s
    Adhesion -> scotch
    Slicer -> Cura 3.6
    Supports -> 45° with 15% of density. I also activate the Support Interface

  12. Project X Alien Mystery Box

    Only a specific sequence of steps will allow access to its secret compartment. Check out the YouTube video to see it in action. Made up of 36 separate pieces, it all snaps together to complete the finished product. 
     
    Because of the number of parts and the complicated assembly, I created a few aids to help out. I've included a parts list and a part identification guide, plus created a special YouTube video detailing the assembly process. Printing all of the pieces requires about 150 hours of printing and lots of PVA support material. I suggest watching all or part of the assembly video prior to starting to print to make sure you really want to take this on. 
     
    In the parts list, I included the brand, type and color of the filaments I used. Of course, you can use anything you want to print it, but I would suggest using the same material types that I used (Nylon, PLA, ABS, TPU) to maintain the same part interactions and flexibility.

  19. Adjustable iPad Air Stand

    This is iPad Air stand. You can change the incline of the tablet by pushing the button up and pulling your iPad up or down.
    Printed with PLA.
     
    There are 5 main parts of the stand:
    Main body consists of two parts, which have juts and holes to ease assembling. Cilinder with groove to insert iPad. Button with lever (consists of two parts to ease printing) Tooth Spring (i took it from ordinary ballpoint pen)
    Parts of main body and of the button are glue together with dichloroethane (as i used PLA). Before gluing you should insert button with lever, tooth, spring and cylinder into one part of the main body. Then smear it with dichloroethane and connect with the second part of the main body.
