  1. For the last week, I have been having a print glitch on the same 3 areas on my design.

I have tried reslicing it with different settings (variables such as - adding 1 extra parimeter wall, printing the effected areas as solid, changing the infill style from grid to gyro, and testing 0.1 and 0.15 layer height). I have also updated cura, and tried printing the the design on 4 different ultimakers (all 2+ models). the print issue persists.

I have printed the design successfully before, but at a scale of 18cm rather than the 20cm it currently is, but I'm not sure why that would be a issue.

I cut one of the drops from the design, and printed it seperately as a test and there was no issue.

I am REALLY confused about what is cuasing this issue. It sort of look slike under extrusion but im not sure.

    help`!

@Evavoo I'm amazed how many people claim they can't find filament in 2.85mm or 1.75mm.  Every manufacturer (except maybe Prusa) sells both sizes.

    1) Try searching for "3mm" as some sellers still call it 3mm or 2.9mm (even though the actual size is 2.85 or 2.9mm).

    2) Try a little harder.  If you can find a filament in 1.75 then the same store will have the same thing in 3mm.

I have had MANY customers with the same complaint as you and it took me all of 5 minutes to find what they needed in the country or region they were in.

    Thanks such helpful comments.

I stumbled across two companies now when i looked for other stuff and maybe it helps.

First Extrudr, which has 3 different types. They seem to be in Austria.

Second Unicofil (never heard of them before), which seems to have exactly what you want. They are from Germany.

But maybe you can get it somewhere shipped to UK.

    Greetings

You are a superstar, thank you!

  4. I use a artec eva scanner for structured light scanning, and I have used both reality capture and agisoft photoscan for photogrammetry.

I have tried 2 or 3 mobile scanning app's, but none of them create good enough scans for me to use them.

I am keen to try out the new linar scanning app on the iphone, but I use android and havent come across anyone with the latest iphone so I can test it out.

I make relatively complex artworks with 3D scanning -

I also use 3D scanning to create the start of a project, which I then detail for 3D printing or digital purposes -

  5. I know it's a bit of a craze, but I would like to try out some gloss rainbow/gradient filaments, but I have been pretty much unable to find any in 2.85mm size.

Has anyone else come across any, ideally availible in the UK.

  6. hey @Carla_Birch did you do the conversion in order to be able to use the palette? if so i'd be really interested to see some images.

I'm also currently in limbo deciding whether to get a um2+ connect, or a prusa - the only reason i'd choose prusa over the um2+ connect is the ability to use the mosiac palette since I am keen to do some more experimental printing.

  7. I recently modelled this, and printed it on the ultimaker 2+. It prints with no support. I designed it in the software Zbrush.

Currently I am working on a much larger version - I have split the design into 7 sections, and will then glue and assemble it 🙂

I have made the file availible for free download here.

I do my modelling via live streaming on twitch and youtube live, the links for checking it out are here.

If anyone has a go at printing the design i'd be keen to know how it turns out.

  8. Cura 2.7 is terrible on my laptop. I have often had issues with the slowness of cura, to the point where I have now started using Simplyfy3D slicer ($150).

I prefer the interface of cura but it's just unworkable.

My laptop is mac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 + 16GB RAM bought last year so I don't see how it can be the computer specs.

  9. Hi,I have found Cura to run really REALLY slow on the workstations at work. they are 16GB ram with i7 core processors so pretty decent spec.but Cura runs really slow and rinses the CPU -Screen_Shot_2017_06_28_at_15_50_50

    https://imgbb.com/'>

I sometimes have 6 students trying to slice files and it is pretty much impossible when cura grinds to a hault...any tips on how to get it running better? (and yup I have already switched off auto alice)

  10. Ive found Cura to work really really slow on desktop imac (16GB ram, latest os), it works a bit better on my macbook pro (also 16GB ram)....

turning off auto slice does help, but really on the imac its pretty much unusable.

S3D is a good alternative slicing software if your on the look-out, it costs $150, but if your going to be doing alot of printing I think it's worth investing in.

  11. I am doing some test's using formfutura flexifil on the ultimaker 2+ -

I am following recommended settings provided by the supplier I bought the printers from -

'Best results we found are that the nozzle is set to 235 degrees and the bed at 60 but using 2090 blue scotch tape as platform adhesion as it tends to warp very easily. Adding a brim will also help with the platform adhesion. For best results use the TPU 95A material profile on cura as this works amazing with the material'

So far the material is extruding nicely, but not staying stuck to the tape very well - part of the print sticks, but part lifts, even with a brim.

When I tried changing the material over (back to PLA) I had to open the feeder up because the flex filament got jammed, but that only took a couple of minutes.

I will keep testing with flexifil and if I get some decent results will share the settings and some pictures.

  12. What end code would I use in addition with

    G28 ; home all

    M104 S0 ; turn off heaters

    M140 S0 ; turn off bed

    M84 ; disable motors

to also lower the um2+ buildplate, and switch off the fans once the nozzle has cooled down after a print?

    I am using simplyfy3D, octoprint and um2+
