Or is CPE similar enough that I should just choose that instead? What I want to do is print with a strong material available in different colours, I'm open to filament type but never used ABS before. I have experience printing PLA, PETG and Nylon

Hi there
I have been printing on my S5 happily for a while now but I want to try PETG which seems to be unavailable in ultimakers range. Is it possible for me to use PETG with a smaller diameter? The ulti stuff is 2.85 but the PETG I have is 1.75mm. If I can do I have to make changes to the settings somewhere?

This is an assumption that you will be using a support filament. You most definitely can put any other core in there for two color prints. That is why you got the extra AA core....not just a replacement.
Oh so the AA is if you are using dual filaments and the BB is for support filament? This is not written anywhere in the literature provided and I am glad I now know that because so far I have been printing PVA in the BB nozzle and would have put another filament in there without thinking

From cura connect and from the app (again the printer is connected) I really think at this price point there should be a way to montor this remotely. perhaps the VPN is the answer but I would have thought this would have worked out the box.

I find this to not be an issue simply because it is such a solid printer in my experience. There are other issues thought that do raise that comment up to high validity. But, I just do not worry about the issues you mention. The other ones I do worry about. However, this does not invalidate your opinion....just a varied opinion on that statement is all.
The prints I am pulling are amazing in consistency and I like to make big things.....of course, that means a great deal more in expense when it comes to filament..... ?
I have been exclusivley printing with Nylon and PVA so far, and its been amazing! consistency and accuracy are very high and at the end of the day thats why I bought this printer.

Hi there guys
Just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Lee and I am lucky enough to be the custodian of a brand new Ultimaker S5. I am an engineer working in TV broadcast and make functional items for my company that is a real innovator in this sector.
I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Hi Everyone,
ive had my ultimaker S5 for a couple of weeks now and I have some observations.
its a great printer, I love it and it works really well but
1) the instructions in the box were very limited. The setup wasn’t as straight forward as the instructions on the touch screen lead you to believe. For instance loading the filament is glossed over. The nozzle types are confusing, why do I put the BB in the second slot and not the AA?
2) intermittent connection. Despite there being a strong wifi in the location of the printer I will occasionally have the printer disconnect.
3) no way to remotely monitor the printer, can look at the camera if you are on the network - pretty useless for me. I would love a way to look at this (when the printer is connected!) whilst I am not at home.
4) the camera is in an odd position, the secondary filament primes a big blob in front of it by default. I would prefer it to be angled down more
its a beautiful machine but I just think its a shame it has some short comings at this price point!

Thanks for coming back to me! I have come to the conclusion that I am better off Installing a webcam from Hive and using that to remotely monitor. Can we at least have a way to stop prints remotely? That way this setup would be adequate for my needs.
Just swapped to CPE, printing great, looking forward to the results
