  1. Is there any app that can give you the basics of modeling to get you started? I currently have Tinkercad as modeling and Cura as my slicing app. I just loaded Tinkercad so I will check it out. If there is anything you might suggest, I am open to it. I try to keep occupied with all kinds of stuff, I'm into leather craft, wood working, coin ring making, metal detecting and I am a HAM radio operator and Emergency Radio Communicator.

  2. Yup, You know it.

If you don't mind and if it isn't a bother I would like to stay in touch and ask your help in learning 3D Printing etc. I just purchased a Creality Ender-3 printer so everything is new. I did print out the preloaded dog and I down loaded a dog bone ornament and printed it. So that's my extent of knowledge of 3D printing. I also have a 500mW laser engraver I built and have used, I have issues with the program, seems I don't know how to enlarge what I want to engrave, the program is gcode laser engraver. Anyway thanks again, time for bed, gotta go to work, not quite retired yet, 5 months.

  3. I think I got it. I just got this Mac and I am still learning how it works, I had a Toshiba  but it crapped out after 5 years. Anyway, I opened Cura and clicked on the file and the model  Loaded so I will try to print tomorrow.

If anyone tells you your mind starts to go after 65 believe them, I'm 69 and mine is toast LOL

I will let you know how things work out and again thank You for the assistance.

Well, I would not send THIS file because it came from a lo-rez image and really does not hold the detail well.

So, that being said, do you have a better image? I do not mind a few minutes making something to help, but I would not want to spend a lot of time remastering the image.

I will see if I can take a picture of the actual sticker. can I paste it here?

    Thanks agasinimage.thumb.png.c14166fd92a6b91827b28fa21ba58b4c.png

  6. YellowShark; I deleted all files pertaining to Cura and reloaded Cura 15.04 and ran a test model and the extruder went to the center of the build plaed. Don't know what the issue was but it seems to be clear now.

Thank You so much for your help.

  7. I have a Creality Ender-3 printer, Window Vista, Cura 15.04.3

My modle program loads fine from Cura to sd card and loades into Ender-3 fine. When the program starts it starts printing in the "Auto Home" position and not in the center of the build table.

What do I have to do to get the print to start in the middle of the build plate?? All of the pre-loaded models on the sd card print fine, in the middle of the build plate.

Thanks to all for the help

  8. I also have an issue with where the extruder starts to build. It starts pretty much in the auto home position 0,0,0 not in the center of the build table. I chedked the machine options and the machinne 0,0,0 is checked, I unchecked the box and no change, still starts at auto home position.

    Thanks for the help  thopiekar

I found this photo which is very close to his body profile. His color is more of the German Shepard brown, white, black but that isn't important. If I find other profiles, ie: the back, the other side would that help?

    Thank You for the help.

    Siberian-Husky.jpg

Gentlemen; This is a rendering of my dog, Dakota, Siberian Husky.I have found a 3D model that closly resembles him. I want to 3D print this likeness and do some hand shaping to better fit the body. Thank You All for the coments, suggestions etc. I really appreciate it all. I now think I am all set to try to print this out, if it comes out ok, I will post a picture of the model here.

    Thanks again guys...

  10. What should I use on top of the build plate(aluminum) mirror glass, regular window pane glass, tempered glass, very thin smooth circuit board fiberglass?

    Thanks for the help.

I wanted to take some pics to produce a 3D model :)

Err no, inexperienced in such things I put Sam in a plastic garden bag to carry him over to the grave and dropped it in. Some days later I was told I needed to take him out of the bag for the decaying process. Trust me, a tough job.

    stinky too I bet

Indeed its called  Autodesk Recap now, and its expensive now. agisoft photoscan does the same thing and is free for 30 days trial but good luck taking photos of a dog from multiple angles without him moving!

if youve not done 3d modelling though, good luck....i reckon if you follow some tuts, you might do it in like a few days to a few months depending on if you are a quick learner. for sculpting you dont really need to think about wireframe imho.

Funnily(?) enough some years back I had to dig up my dead cat. An unpleasant  experience preceded by several vodkas.

I went here and found a perfect match. Can I just download it and save it on an sd card then insert it into my Ender-3 and run it from the sd card? (geez, maybe it ain't that simple, or is it???)
