Posted · Machine Control after using the new Cura

First let me say I'm very impressed with the new Cura (for the Mac in my case). I was also surprised with the installation on a older Mac, automatically installing the missing components like python, numPy etc, Well done!

What I missed was machine control (controlling the stepper motors, extruder etc directly), so I thought I use ReplicatorG for this and downloaded the latest stable version Ulti ReplicatorG 026 (released 21 aug), but I'm unable to connect to the Ultimaker after the firmware upgrade running Cura for the first time.

Any pointers for the best way to have machine control?

    Same here.

i also wanted to use RepG for manual purpose and maybe experimenting with my claystruder

in Cura you can start the print by USB cable. In Normal mode you should be able to click on Print and get a Machine control window..

The printing interface in Cura does allow some direct control. If you want more control then that I suggest PrintRun and not RepG. (RepG should crawl in a corner and die)
