Posted · update firmware from linux

I've installed cura_15.04.5-debian_amd64.deb on a ubuntu-14.04 machine. As recommended I'd like to update the firmware of the ultimaker 2. The the printer I see that the firmware is 14.03 (12. March 2014).

When I conenct the usb cable and then select "Menu:Machine/Install default firmware..." I get a dialog where the progressbar is not moving. the "okay" button is grayed. The printer restarted and makes clicking noises only. I can close the dialog, then the printer stops clicking and is back in the main menu.

Since the ultimaker uses an arduino, can't I just send the firmware from the arduino ide? Is it this project:
