Hey fellows,

I've just installed an custom heated bed in our "tuned" ultimaker, and compiled the custom firmware using the latest version from http://www.extrudable.me/2013/05/03/building-marlin-from-scratch/

the problem is that whenever I start printing something the LCD goes crazy, starting by messing up the simbols and then loosing the time indication etc.

As anyone experienced anything similar?

That's weird. Seems there could be three possible causes:

    1) In the course of installing the heated bed, something got messed up in the wiring for the ulticontroller

    2) The act of operating the heated bed causes some sort of interference that is upsetting the ulticontroller display

    3) There's something about your new firmware settings and/or the source code itself that is causing problems.

    To troubleshoot, I suggest:

    1) Check all the UC wiring - is any of it routed near to heated bed wiring?

    2) Revert to a standard firmware from Cura if possible, and see if the UC works during a non-heated bed print

    3) Install your new firmware, and try non-heated bed print

That will help narrow things down a bit.

You might also tell us a little about the heated bed you're using, how it's powered and connected, etc.

After a weeks work, it's solved, thank you illuminarti, for poiting us on the right direction.

There was some current going back to the ulticontroler, while our bed relay was in the off position.

Added a freewheeling circuit in between and its working like a charm :)

    Hello

I experience the same issue after adding a heated bed to my UM1.

Please, could you describe your "freewheeling circuit" solution.

    Thanks.

    Frederic.
