Posted · Can't connect to smoothie 3d printer (Ubuntu 18.04)

I have two Smoothie-based 3d printers (Azteeg x5 minis) which I have connected via USB to my computer running Ubuntu 18.04. I cura will not connect to them. I have added my username to the dialout group. The computer sees that they are connected as I can access the SD storage. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I feel really stupid. I solved it myself.

For anyone else who might stumble upon this thread, once you've added yourself to the dialout group, you have to log out and log back in (I just restarted to be sure) and everything should work. This is often overlooked in many of the places I searched for help. Here's hoping this might help someone else out.
