Ultimaker 3 with Cura 3.4.1

Most of my printing is done "one at a time", but I often need to abort the print half way through. Problem is the build plate will only lower enough to clear what layer it is currently printing, and then the printhead will crash through all the finished parts on its way home. Is there a quick fix for this?
