Need some help with an Ultimaker 1+

I know this is old news but I could really use some help with my old Ultimaker 1+. I don't use the printer very often but it's a very important tool I my home shop.

Unfortunately the SD card reader has never worked. This morning I formatted a 2GB SD card FAT32 and saved the file from Cura 2.7. When I put the card in the printer it shows Card inserted but when I press the button I shows No SD Card. It was out of warranty by the time it was put together so my only option is USB.  I've used it with great success for some time but right now there are problems I don't seem to be able to resolve.

First question is what was the last version of Cura that supported USB? On my new PC I'm running version 2.7 and I can run the bed leaving but when I press the Print button nothing happens. I've never run this version before, is there something I'm missing?
