All metal hot end...Monoprice select mini 3

Hi,

I have a Monoprice select mini V3 that I would like to be able to print using PETG.  However, I am told that I need an all metal hot end and the printer I have does not have this.

Is there an aftermarket all metal hot end that will fit on my Monoprice select?  If someone knows of one, can you point me in the right direction?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Chip

From what I can find online, the V3 already has an all-metal hot end.

    Johnse,

Thanks for the reply. I was on customer support this morning and they told me I couldn't print using PETG because it required one. That's strange. I'll have to try contacting them again.

    According to Monoprice’s site: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=33012

All Metal Hotend: The all metal hotend is capable of superior performance and prevents wear and tear, while the heat brake design allows for efficient dissipation of heat.

From what I can see, the v1 and v2 did not. Monoprice does not make printers. They rebadge printers made by others. In this case, it’s a Malyan M200 v3 http://malyansys.com/product/m200-v3/

    Johnse,

Thank you for the info.  I'm new to the 3D printing world so would like to ask.  Should this machine capable of printing PETG?

    Thanks in advance.

I’m sorry, but I have never worked with PETG. You might find better answers on forums dedicated to your printer. Try searching for “monoprice malyan mini forums”. There seem to be several. Add PETG to the search and you may get direct answers like this one from Reddit:

I have successfully printed PETG using the original hot end of an Ender 3 Pro, limiting to (indicated) 240°C.

One idea is to get a sample of PETG filament and try printing a temperature tower, see what happens.

    Chip,

From my experience, PETG is not so abrasive and you can print it normally with a standard hot end. I have used several Kg of PETG and the hot end and the nozzle are both fine.
