Cura no setting for 1.2mm nozzle or 1.4mm nozzle

with the e3d vocano and super volcano nozzle diamaters reaching 1.2 and 1.4mm diameter. (even after market nozzles reaching 2mm) Why is cura v4.5 maxed out at 1mm nozzle diameter? is there a way to change this?

Cura is not limited to any maximum nozzle size; the printer definition you selected probably is. If you add a new printer to Cura, and start with a Custom FFF printer, you can set any nozzle size you want in the Machine Settings.

He means that if you set up a printer, then go to Extruder, it only gives you from .2 to 1.mm nozzles as options.

 

There's no obvious way to set it to 1.2mm.

 

What YOU seem to be saying is that we can make a whole custom printer, for a single nozzle. Seems like a crappy solution.

No, that is not what I was trying to say. I gave a solution where they can make a whole custom printer that will let them use *any* nozzle size. So they could use that new printer for all their nozzles.

 

Crappy workaround or not, what I did was give them an option for something that works without editing (potentially many) files.

 

Another workaround is to keep the current printer configuration, select the nearest available nozzle size (eg 1.0 mm for a 1.4 mm nozzle), and then adjust the "line width" setting.

 

What I could have explained better is that Cura is not limited to certain nozzle sizes, but the printer definition that comes with Cura is.
