Scratches in linear rods

i have noticed the 10mm rods on my S5 have slight scratches in them. If i run my nail over them i can feel they are actually grooved slightly into the rod. I thought these were hardened rods ?, anyone else noticed this, they aren't particularly deep at moment but still i wasn't expecting to see any marks on them, maybe i just never noticed them on my 2+. I always keep the rods well oiled with the supplied thin oil.
